    Hi,

ok this is the last thing holding me back from daily MP use. :)
I have playback issues with some DVDs in MP. Depending on the used codec the issues differ. So I stay on MPA / MPV / DVD navigator for testing. Main problem are these two DVDs. I think the main reason is because of many trailers they play in front of the menu and the film.

Spiderman I (german 2 DVD set)
    - beginning and trailers playing well
    - black picture when DVD menu is reached / playing
    - DVD ist still playing, I can hear the sound
    - hitting blindly OK to starts DVD
    - short trailers show
    - main movie is black again, but playing
    - I can solve this by jumping to main DVD menu via context menu
    - or resizing window, when in windowed mode

Spiderman II (german 2 DVD set)
    - beginning and trailers playing well
    - DVD menu is playing well
    - starting DVD
    - short trailers show
    - I think FBI warning is turning picture black
    - main movie is black, but playing
    - I can solve this by jumping to main DVD menu via context menu
    - or resizing window, when in windowed mode

The "famous" VMR9Helper: playing->repaint 0 can be found in the logs. But it can be seen in working and not workng DVDs.

Also there are quite some errors in the error.log.

    Playing well:
    Matrix I (german)
    Terminator II (german ultimate edition)

    I can confirm this for:
Das Boot (5 hour TV cut, german)
    and Cool Runnings (german)

using MPA / MPV / DVD navigator.

With the dscaler a/v codec i see the menus (look somewhat "blurry" btw) but MP locks up when using them.

There is also a problem with ff/rwd/skipping when you play those DVDs. When you start them, it seems MP doesn't recognise the playing time and chapters, so skipping is not possible and you don't get correct time displayed. When you stop playback and restart the DVD with "continue on last position" this works fine. If i remember correctly, this only occurs with the dscaler codec.

Sorry, can't give more details or logs before the weekend (studying right now, my htpc is not here). So please test ff/rwd/skipping issues.

The navigation of some dvds is still causing the developers headaches. they are working on it.

    sadly, no.

the problem is that with different codecs the issues are different.
if you have a look at WinMCE forums you will notice that there is also a DVD navigation issue with WinMCE2005RU2 if purevideo codec is used.

the only way to help the devs to fix the issue is to provide them with the sourcefiles.
in the most cases the navigation files are about ~400MB. :(

    Hi,

    OK.

I am not quite sure, if my problem really is a navigation issue. I have no problems to navigate with MPA / MPA / DVD Navigator. I "only" have this black screen thingy. But this issue occurs around the menu (short before or after it), so it may or may not be related.

I can resolve the black screen by resizing the window (if in windowed mode) and then navigate normally.
