AMC Updater (AMCU), allows you to manage your Ant Movie Catalog (AMC) via single or batch updates, or to scan and add (import) new films using AMCU Import or within My Films (via Global Updates).

AMCU can be accessed via a desktop shortcut to import or batch update your database (or central database on a network) even while MediaPortal is running.

See AMC Updater, and Import New Films in the My Films Wiki for details.

You may ask questions or report possible issues about AMC Updater in this thread.

Be sure to always include your MyFilmsAMCupdater.log when reporting possible issues. See Support in the My Films Wiki for further info on reporting issues. Thanks.

AMCupdater can run in GUI mode and in background import mode. As TLD said above, creating a scheduler entry via the MyFilms setup does the necessary settings, but obviously requires MyFilms to be installed on the respective machine; but the same can be done manually of course, e.g. when you want to schedule it on a PC where no MP/MyFilms is installed.
You have to call AMCupdater with two arguments: config file and log file.
    ...\AMCupdater.exe <configfile> <log-file>

Hi and sorry, seems I missed that post.
If it is launched in hidden/console mode, there is only logfiles that tells, what's happening. If those are not created, there might be a bug or it is launched with wrong command line (take care if there is spaces in the path!).

    Hey guys,

i got several "problems" with the amc updater. The importing or updating of movies takes forever.

The initial importing with the lookup in the IMDB database (IMDB.DE-OFDB.xml) takes approx. 2-3min per movie. My internet connection can't be the problem. And when i'm updating just one film afterwards it's taking about another minute for the searchbox to come up. And then when i choosed the right title it's taking another 2-5min until the update box shows up.

Does anyone know a solution for this problem? Is it maybe because i'm using Win8?

I just checked it here and it is ok - but recently, there have been problems reported with the OFDB Gateway - so maybe if you catched such a problem, the grabber waits until timeout.
You can check the loading times in the grabber interface on details "Preview full grab" - in the window at the bottom you'll get the runtime for the web requests done.
Here an example for "Matrix" on IMDB-OFDB script:
    Code:
*** Infos about used Grab Pages ***

    Base Page: (573 ms)
    http://www.imdb.de/title/tt0133093/

    URL Gateway: (679 ms)
    http://ofdbgw.lirzg.net/imdb2ofdb/tt0133093

URL Redirection Generic 1: (599 ms)
    http://ofdbgw.org/movie/154

URL Redirection Generic 2: (3811 ms)
    http://akas.imdb.com/title/tt0133093/

    URL Redirection Cover: (452 ms)
    http:\\www.imdb.de/media/rm3412696576/tt0133093

    URL Redirection Persons: (1094 ms)
    http://www.imdb.de/title/tt0133093/fullcredits

    URL Redirection Title: (366 ms)
    http://www.imdb.de/title/tt0133093/releaseinfo#akas

    URL Redirection Certification: (0 ms)

    URL Redirection Comment: (890 ms)
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133093/usercomments

    URL Redirection Description: (742 ms)
    http://www.imdb.de/title/tt0133093/plotsummary

    Total Runtime: 9156 ms.
Total runtime was approx 10 seconds, including all sub page grabbings.

Edit: To at least suggest you a workaround for your issue: If you encounter such a problem with OFDB, do the grabbing with e.g. IMDB.DE grabber script, make sure, IMDB-Id is stored - so later when OFDB is working again, you could just run an update with IMDB-OFDB and the option to overwrite the data, if available.
