People really need to learn to use the "Search" function in the forums!!

The reason your display does not work is that the LC16/LC20 cases have been shipping with a NEW VFD that is NOT compatible with the External Display driver...

Also, the "Soundgraph iMON Integrated VFD/LCD driver v1.0" has been superceeded by the CybrDisplay Plugin... and it does work with this new display...

it is available HERE

There is also an entire forum ( MediaPortal Forum > MediaPortal 1 > Main Features (talk, share your ideas, get support) > Input / Output interfaces > External Display ) dedicated to providing help for external status displays... HERE

Hi RadyR - hopefully cybrmage's post helps you out.

With regard to turning on my machine with the remote, yes, it works fine (both from hibernation and full shutdown). Since it's hard-wired in, it must be a hardware problem. Either the wires aren't hooked up correctly, or the motherboard you're using is somehow incompatible. Perhaps this is one for Silverstone and/or Soundgraph to field.

    Good luck!

    Rob.

rmeredit: Hi. Turned out that i disconnected the wires, when i tried to put the harddrive rack back to its place... it's working now :)

Edit: well, the disconnected wires wasn't the cause of my problem. I screwed up. Connected the vfd-s "female" power-on header to the vfd-s "male" header... Damn, stupid me.

cybrmage: Hi, i forgot to mention, that i've already tried your plugin (thanks for the development), and i got the
same results as some other users: after mp starts i lose the ability to control the pc with the imon pad (the vfd works as a charm). If if restart and stop frontview the remote starts working again. That's why i tried pappabear72's solution, but unfortunatelly it doesn't work at all in my case :(

Cybermage... thank you!!! Thanks for taking the time to write your post! I've been searching for answers to this problem for days, and haven't been able to find any!

I've been struggling trying to get my Silverstone LC16-M VFD to work with MediaPortal for days...
The good news, is that I now have the VFD display working! :)
The bad news, is that this stops my remote from working :(

How I got the the good news:
I got the VFD to work by following the instructions given in the link posted by cybermage (This one)

I had to do something a bit weird to get it to go though:
    - Go to the configuration options for the new plugin (MP - Plugins - WindowPlugins - CybrDisplay - Configure)
    - Change port to USB (this isn't the weird bit)
    - Select Advanced
    - Select "Use V3 SG_VFD.dll (for older...)
    - Select all the OK's etc..
    - Run MP
    - Close MP, and turn off the "Use V3 SG_VFD..." option
    - Click OK's
    - Go back to CybrDisplay config, and click "Test Display"
    - You should have "iMONLCDg Display" come up briefly on your VFD
    - Run MediaPortal, and discover what you've been missing out on!

Note1: Some of these steps may well be superfluous, and you should try just changing the DisplayType to VFD.

Note2: You can now change the DisplayType back to AutoDetect if you wish. (CybrDisplay - Configure - Advanced - DisplayType drop down ).

Note3: I have a brand new LC-16M, so RadyR, I'm sure this will work for you too.

A littlle about my bad news:

I'm really a noob, and i don't really understand this stuff... but it seems that CybrDisplay and iMON Frontview are not able to run at the same time.
It also seems that iMON Frontview manages the comms with my remote (a Harmony 525 pretending to be an iMON PAD).

Sadly, this means, currently, I have to choose between having either a remote, or a VFD :(.

Hopefully, one of the brain boxes out there will solve this little issue for me, and I will be a very happy boy!

    Edwood.
