Great work!

Hi,

I just wanted to thank you very much Valk!
Now this plugin works great and I can watch TV where I want thanks to you!
:D:D:D:D

EDIT: I was too fast... Now it works but still stops after a couple of minutes and I have to restart streaming :(

hmm thats odd, does it just stop instantly?

If your using VLC to watch live TV can you check the media statistics and tell me how much data it says has transfered when it ends the stream and tell me what your settings are for the tvserver caching (max number of timeshift files and the timeshift file size).

I figured it was stable since I did 2gig worth of transfering at 50mb a timeshift file, i'll look closer at it.

Hey guys,
When clicking on a Link in the RSS feed, Firefox asks me to select a download option. Clicking "save to disc", it will start to download a file called: TimeShift.ts_ChannelId=193.
On clicking "open with" and choosing vlc.exe, it still tries to download the file first. What am I doin wrong to start the streaming?
Any input is appreciated.

Second my list of channels has about 200 entries. And some of my favorite channels are missing. Is it possible to order the RSS feed by the groups creaded in TV Server?
If thats not possible atm, I'd lke to request this feature :) Perhaps it is possible to access them by link. e.g.
http://127.0.0.1:8080/TvServer/TimeS...ts?ChannelGroup=<mygroupstring>

Thanks a lot.

Edit:
And an other idea. What do you think about dividing TV and radio? e.g.: ?ChannelType=radio/tv
With multiple values passed by GET you can choose nicly which channels should be displayed.

And last but not least I saw that the ChannelId is increasing randomly. My fist ChannelId is 26 and the last one is 2096.
How come? Is that by design? Like an internal id fetched from the MP database?

Well first off sadly it seems the problem tlevis had I can replicate (thought I had it sorted, sigh) so I'll try again to get it right (on a side note radio seems flawless now).

As for groups, I'm having trouble getting that data from the TvServer (at times its hard to find a function that won't throw a error to do the job, and it normally isn't the most logical answer to fix), once I have that figured out I'll add group support.

There is already radio / tv only support, add to the query string Radio=true or Tv=true and it will only list those channels (if you add both radio and tv to the query string you will still get both).

As for the channel Id that is based on what the TvServer has given the channel, if you want that to change you will have to set that up with the TvServer config tool.

If you try and load the links as you have firefox tries to download the file first then play it, considering its a endless live stream there could be a few issues with that :p

Open VLC then go Media > Open Network... and then paste the web link into the address box and it will work, also VLC supports podcasts and if you add the RSS feed to the VLC podcast playlist it will give you a nice list to work with in VLC (but considering the number of channels you have that could be a insane list).

So to summarize:

- Still some trouble (which I thought I fixed).
- Groups aren't working yet.
- Example URL for radio only: http://127.0.0.1/TvServer/ChannelList.rss?Radio=true
- Example URL for tv only: http://127.0.0.1/TvServer/ChannelList.rss?Tv=true
- Channel Id numbers are based on what the TvServer has assigned the channel.
- Loading the links through a browser will most likely try to download the file first then play which won't work since it's an endless download, use a client.
- To use VLC goto Media > Open Network... and paste the timeshifting link in the address box.
- The RSS feed will work as the VLC Podcast if you want VLC to have a playlist of all channels.

It seems that the stream lasts exactly for 10 minutes and then it just stops.
When I reconnect it works ok again. Hopefully u can get it working, thanks.

EDIT:
the tvserver caching (max number of timeshift files and the timeshift file size).
I have default settings in these and I´m using MP 1.0.1.

Ok, I increased the buffer file size to the max. 1024 mb. Now the streaming works about 25 mins before cutting off...

I'm doing a test now but I think I put the wrong version online.

If it plays a HD channel for 2 hours fine and say 1 hour for SD i'll put this version up.

Ok well this version ran a HD stream for over a full hour flawless so I guess I did release the wrong one (opps).

* Main post is updated with the new version.

Thanks Valk for this great plugin :D

My wishlist for the coming releases:

    - Option to Compress the video stream to a specified format and bandwith
    - Possibility to play the stream with the windows media player instead of buggy vlc
    - Display only selected tv groups on the rss feed, i have more then 5000 channels and the IE displays only 1000
    - Multicast stream (?)

    P.S.
    Did you need help?

    thx
