My Weather Confusion (1 Viewer)

Not that it's a big feature of MP, but something I'm trying to get right is the 'My Weather' page.

I'll update the Wiki if someone could clarify a few things that don't make too much sense to me, and I've searched the Docs and Forums.

In the Setup/Config you need to add a city and in each City can have images for Satellite, Temperature, UV Index, Winds, Humidity, Precipitation

In MP when you go to My Weather, it cycles through 'Images', 'Geoclock' and 'Weather'.

Images: Actually appears to be different days forecast based on the city.
Geoclock: Goes through the Images Satellite, Temperature, UV Index, Winds, Humidity, Precipitation
Weather: Show a picture of the world and doesn't seem to do anything.


So to me this all looks a little 'buggy' and :

1. 'Images' should be renamed to 'Weather Forecast'
2. Geoclock should be renamed to 'Images'
3. Weather (picture of the world) should be removed? Because it doesn't appear to do anything?


Is the way I see things, can someone shed some sunshine on this?

If you select and press the button named [Weather] - it will take you to the weather... not very intuitive, I agree...

Actually I just realized somehow my config is totally messed up...

I just clued in the picture of the world is the Geoclock... But it's showing up on the Weather tab... here's pics of it all.

So is my config fixable or is it a reinstall?

It only took me 2 months to finally clue into this interface and realize nothing is broken.

So although it says 'My Weather'... 'Images'... it's not telling you that's the screen you're on, it's saying that's where it will take you if you click it... just like Poster #2 said!

Yes, maybe a GUI expert could tweak this one day to make it more understandable... ... then again I'm struggling with the new MS Office 2007 'Ribbon Interface'... geesh!

Yeah, this thread is pretty old, but it's still relevant to the issue I'm having. Firstly, yes, the UI for Weather is misleading at best for the reasons described above.

My primary complaint is that when I go to weather, seeing the forecast immediately is nice, but what I want to see more than anything is my local radar image. This means I have to select Images from the menu and then wait as it access the Internet and pulls down the latest satellite image (because satellite is the first entry). I then need to arrow down to choose the word Satellite which pulls up the Temperature map (and again wait while it grabs the image from the Internet, usually about three to five seconds with no feedback that it's requesting the image). Still not at my destination, I select Temperature to pull up Humidity. Rinse repeat through the two other images before I finally get to radar. Going from the forecast to the radar/precipitation image takes a total of about 30 seconds.

Instead of having an entire page for Images, why not have a link to each individual image on the left when you're looking at the forecast? That way I can just arrow directly to the image I want and not worry about pollen or humidity or temperature (which I can already see from the forecast page).

And would it be possible to have the weather plugin actively pulling images every few minutes (in the background without locking up MP or even displaying the rotating "working" symbol [your theme may vary]) so that when I go to the weather page it doesn't need to download it immediately?
