Hi there

is it possible to run both?

I've managed to setup HIP to blast my tv with a "on then av" code and that works great.

And i've managed to get myblaster til swith channels on my receiver.

but they won't do it at the same time. If I run HIP myblaster won't work.

Is there a workaround for this?

btw:
mp 1.3 and MCE remote (euro)

Thanks

Well, here is the answer I got - not sure if I fully understand it...:

"I am pretty sure that only one application can use the device at any time.
I don't know anything about MyBlaster, but on GBPVR, their channel changing
routine can communicate directly with Hip via standard window messaging
using the Hip Send utility available here:
http://www.byremote.com.au/downloads/default.asp?SCLASS=HIP EXTRA

I don't know if that helps...."
Can myblaster do the same? And if so, how?

thanks

It could but I have no intention of adding such functionality and yes the device can be shared, no suprise to see that the guy doesn't know much about it as he did not contribute anything to his MCE blaster support, instead using code from BZR of thegreenbutton.com .

Can't you configure HIP to satisfy all of your needs?

My understanding is that Zyphrax has been doing some work on the blaster code to make fit his own needs better, perhaps he may have more interest in doing this sort of thing...

Its not really a "do or die" situation for me, but i'm going for extra WAF, by trying to fit everything onto the MCE remote.

at the moment the only thing I can't do without HIP is to turn on the tv and switch to AV - but if I want that, the blast dosn't work and I get no joy from the satelite receiver...the blaster is more important of course...

guess you can't have it all (although with MP I come rather close!)

There is one other possible quick solution and it should be pretty easy to pull off if I'm correct. Could you confirm that HIP has a file named mceir.dll (or pretty similar) in its installation folder... if it has then it should be possible to change a single line of code to open the handle to the device in a shared fashion and as such both applications can use it. Let me know.

BZR is a cool guy!

Cool, I'll grab BZR's code and have a play around.

* edit *

Sorry zutcorp, BZR's source code shows that mceir.dll is already be opening the device in the same was as our code does, for shared access.
