All my movies are indexed in a XML file and use MyFilms 5.1 as my plugin to select movies. I have entered "//server/mediacenter/covers/" in MyFilms as the directory that holds my cover art. If I dump a bunch of covers in here, how does MyFilms know which files are for which movies?

Thanks for any help.

The covers have the config and movie name Like: Config 1_the.manchurian.candidate.jpg, Config 1_the.manchurian.candidate [-1866528406].jpg, Config 1_the.manchurian.candidate [-1458288705].jpg and so on, you would need to name the covers like these.

The covers files are linked with films in the xml file. The name doesn't matter

    Hi Joco,
it depends what catalog type you are using. In AntMovieCatalog (AMC) there is an attribut "Picture" with the name of the cover.
By default, MyFilms looks for that covername in directory of the XML catalog - if you change setting to other relative or absolute path, you can store covers elsewhere and still let myfilms find them.
See also Artwork Setup in MyFilms wiki.
If you use AMCupdater, it can add e.g. relative path info to that field automatically.

That was very useful information. Thank you.

I found in my Ant Movie Catalog XML file (//server/x/mc/movies.xml) it does create the Picture attribute when I link to a picture. I will be using the movie number as the file name and storing them in "//server/x/mc/covers/". I will testing this method after I get off work today. I have one final question before continuing this venture. When downloading all my cover art, do I need to be aware of the pixel size of the images? I don't want them to be too small and blurry when stretched, but I don't want them to be too big and cause problems with skins, load times, etc. I am using the Mustayaluca skin.

    Thanks again.

    Hi John,
you shouldn't be too worried about pixel size of the covers - it's mostly a questiohn of taste.
    - MyFilms creates a "cacheimage" on first use of any cover that is used for facade icons etc. and will be resized to be small, even if original image is big
    - Coverart loading is "delayed - so usually you should be able to do fast scrolling even if you have big covers
    - If you use cover for missing fanart, cover resolution should be not too small, otherwise it looks to bad ;-)
I would recommend using covers with max resolution something like 400x600 - more is imho not really necessary
If you are concerned, I'd suggest to try different resolutions and check the results and if you're happy with it

Hi, I am new to MyFilms so am not too clear on how it works with AMCUpdater but I have managed to get all 600 of my movies listed Ok using the "default" IMDB grabber.
However this doesnt pick up any covers? How can I get covers for these 600 movies easily. I used moving-pictures in the past and that grabs them just fine but for the life of me I can'y find any grabbers , either in AMCUpdater settings on via AMC itself which will do this. I tried using the download Fanart/Covers function from with MP which appears to use TMDB to get covers but no covers are found for the movies I've tried and it keeps asking for manual keyboard input! I can't do that for 600 movies it will take years.

Anyone tell me which grabber to use for covers and how to set it up please?

    Hi Jono25,
normally, the grabbers do pickup pictures when you import the movies (unless you selected not to do so) - if that didn't happen, there might have been something wrong in setup, pathes, access right, ... so without logs and your config noone can guess what was wrong during import...

Thanks for replying. Here are Myfilms log and config. I spent one and a half days already trying to get this setup and still no covers for all movies . Some covers were downloaded using TMDB script but they were in crap quality.
    Any help much appreciated.
I must say that as a user of moving-pictures this plugin is proving significantly more difficult to use and configure, but hopefully when its done I will see the benefit of all theses hours of labour!

Hi, looking at your config, last grabber you used was TMDB-EN - and yes, I found it is only loading lowres covers. Have fixed that for next version.
However, I cannot see, why you didn't get covers initially (you said, you were using IMDB) - if you post your DB file, I can let AMCupdater run an "update" on covers here and see, how many are missing on IMDB site (or if something is wring with the grabber script itself).
Maybe other users can comment/help, as I myself use grabbers for german sites...
