Hey... I have been using MyFilms before... But i don't like that you have to go inside an database, (Through a movie categorizer etc) and add every movie you want to add to your database...

Therefore i switched to MovingPictures, beacuse it automatically search a watching folder for new added movies, and then auto approve them to the database...

Can this be done with MyFilms (I like the GUI in MyFilms 100% more than MovingPictures) Ex. Through a external program combined with MyFilms...?

Yes.
Using AMCupdater. You must configure it, and then configure in MyFilms entering the AMCupdater path and the config you want to use with it. Also the script you want to import data from internet
When u are inside MP, in the main screen, go to change view- scan for new movies (or similar). It will add to your DB all the new files it find.
Then, go to the details screen of the new movie and press "update", so the info will be grabbed from internet.

This explanation is exactly why I gave up on My Films.

Good god, do you realise how many steps, and how much work, and how much research, is required to follow those instructions? It's madness. Scripts? Have you seen how many scripts are there, with no indication which one to use?

Unless you have non-english language movie, Just use Moving Pictures, point it to your \Movies directory, and correct the rare mistake. Takes about 10 minutes for my 1600+ collection.

Sorry, I'd use My Movies, but honestly - I don't want to be mired in complex multi-application, long workflows to do what is so simply done by other approaches.

As you can see in my flag, Im from Spain. Moving pictures is absolutely useless for me.
MyFilms is a great plugin, not so hard to use as can sound because my ultra-poor english level.
With myfilms you can auto-update your films database inside MediaPortal. The AMC database is completely modificable. You can import data from hundreds of sites.
And we have nice logos and multiple filters: genre, actors, lenght (the REAL lenghts), etc. These features are not in moving pictures.

I think i'm going to need some kind of Tutorial for this... There is a lots of steps and work to get this working:

I'm going to need MyFilms, And AMC Updater, that's it? (Both latest versions!?)

And what about that script? (I don't now where to put it on my computer?) I just wan't the one which is best finding titles, and downloading MovieCovers, Backdrops Etc... I have 99.9% english titles...

With amc updater you have some useful scripts, like IMDB. The plugin doesnt download backdrops automatically (for now...), so you have to download and rename them manually.

Isn't there anyway you can make AMC Updater to do it?

And, we agree that AMC Updater is able to run Silent in the background, and autoadd new movies to database?

    - Not for now, but a new grabber is on development that probably will do that.
    - Yes, AMCupdater can run silent. You can use a batch file or start AMCupdater from inside MediaPortal (change view menu in the main screen of myfilms)

Okay that sounds good... Any idea how far this project is in development?

Nice, i will try it out now, with Mediaportal RC3

I have just tried out AMC Updater... But it's a little tricky... It can't regornize any of the found movies on IMDB..
I know you can set up "Scan filters" But can't get it to work correctly... Anyone who has a predefined working "Scan filer-list" i can use!?
Any expirience about AMC Updater's "Autoadd" function? MovingPictures was really good at that autoadd part, and was able to find the correct movies in 99.9% at the time!
