I don't think there's coming any new version, but perhaps some of you that know zebons a bit better, can talk him into releasing the latest sourcecode for others to fix. Otherwise I think the plugin should be moved to the graveyard.

Heh Heh, while I can appreciate the motivational value of that statement Pileave, I cannot agree. Even though there are these two bugs in MyFilms, they have always been there and never prevented it from being included as a popular/maintained plugin. The truth is, that MyFilms has worked consistently in several versions of MP, including in MP 1.1.0 RC1.

In my mind, a plugin that is not 'maintained', is one that is no longer developed to support versions of MP. However, if the plugin is coded well enough to work in every version of MP I do not see why it should be penalized for not issuing a new release! If it's features are good enough to keep attracting users, like My Films does, then what is the need for a new version? I do not see endless requests for new features from My Films users which I do for many other plugins.

Of course, I do agree with you that if the latest source code is not available, one could consider it is not truly open source

EDIT: You do have a good point though, that if bugs are reported and not fixed in many months, that it is not properly 'maintained'

A long time ago I asked zebons why he didn't make a sticky thread with a link to the latest version of MyFilms, because most questions in here was how to get the latest version. No respond and no sticky.

In the thread I link to zebons promises to fix the bugs mentioned. No respond and no new version.

And now that we find that there is a conflict because of the way MyFilms sets labels, I believe this should be taken seriously and get fixed.

If zebons has found other things to do (you know, real life has an impact on all of us), then I wish him all the best

I think that someone should take on the task to maintain this plugin, as this is the only one with a shareable database that can be used in pther programs. I would hate to see it die, no doubt about that!

And if maintaining is just fixing two bugs - well then we all can go back to our other work

Hear Hear!!! I just wish we could convince all plugin developers to use shareable databases, but that is drifting off topic, to a very big discussion!

I will again try to get hold of zebons in the french forum - he's more often there than here ;-)
catavolt: If you can give me some more hints about what and how a (or this) plugin has to expose it's data, maybe I can try to fix it - as mentioned, I did a compile yesterday of a version 4.9.0 prepreprealpha ;-) - and details screen was just fine, just the main screen had some issues - I think, Zebons has a different manner of exposing certain data, because he uses a "virtual" movielist, that can either contain subfolders or movie records themselves. (Can be in german, I am from germany too - Kann auch auf Deutsch sein, vielleicht mal kurz telefonieren oder IRC?).
