When I open MyMusic and start playing a track any track in full scree n Viz, I can't leave fullscreen other than alt f4. No error or vmr log generated.

Using G-Force visualisations by any chance, as that is a known effect.

nope it is a virgin (???) WMP 10 install, x, X on remote or keyboard fails as does <ESC>. dedicated HTPC with only the essentials installed.

Upgraded to WMP 11, no effect same issue with 02.0.3 and latest SVN. When I use alt enter and have MP in wondowed mode then it works when I go back into Fullscreen mode it fails again.

i have had this problem ever since i have used MP , the odd thing is my exact setop in terms of hardware was the same but i tried win xp 64 bit one time and it didnt' have that problem, do you find that if you run at 800x600 desktop res and try it again you may find it exits fullscreen properly , as mine works fine at that res, as soon as i go higher i have the same problem as you.
Although obviously 800x600 isn't a desired res to run at .

Well that is indeed a weird one, changed res to 800x600 and it works. The res isn't that important to me as having a wife and kid proof interface, so I will stay with 800x600 until this behaviour is resolved. Thanks for the tip!

i'm not sure what the problem is, as anything more than 800x600 and the cpu usage is 100% and wont register the keystroke, i have never been able to fix this apart from the res change, but would be nice at some point to fix it when i get a hd tv, that would have a higher res than 800x600.

This is a major problem that has been with media portal for months

Its been done on purpose to stop peoples tvs from dieing early.

I cant rember the details if you search you can probably find it.

sorry to be a gumby but why does it make peoples tvs die earlier?

In WMP when the viz becomes full screen the resolution changes.

Supposedly changing resaltion to often can damage some tvs.


So the devs decided to make it so the viz would be ths same resolution as windows so there would be no change.


So since you have hte windows resolution set to higher than 800x600 it takes more processing power to do the viz.

I think there might be more to it than that but its been done on purpose so no one can blame mediaportal for killing their tv and the devs wont remove it.

Someone did make a fix for it but i dont know where it is or how to find it
