I'm surprised that there is no sticky for SQL related installation FAQ? After all its pretty much a integral part of mediaportal.
That aside, i just noticed that Comodo (v3.9.95478.509) Lists:
mysqld-nt.exe listening to TCP port 3306
TvService.exe listening to TCP port 31456 & 554
So, from what i understand tvservice and mysql need to talk to each other, i get that.
But what i don't understand is why there appears to be no bytes in or out to any of these ports (according to comodo's "active Connections"). If there is no 'reported' communication between these two why have the ports open?
Also why is TvService.exe listening to TCP ports 31456 & 554 ?
I've been tightening my firewall security (shutting down ports 137-139, 445 etc). So this begs the question, how safe is MySql ? Is there any specific things to do to make sql safe..ie firewall settings /configuration etc.
This is probably a noob question and my apologies if there is a thread on this already.
ps. Great job with MP 1.0 guys, i love it.
