If I fast forward/rewind a pre-recorded tv show the video resumes but without audio. After about five seconds the audio starts and the video stops. After another five seconds the video restarts and the two are back in sync and working okay.

I've tried different video and audio codecs, but without success.

Any ideas on what I can check?

Run filmerit and see if it shows any errors, might be also worthwhile running the file through GSpot, to see what codecs are being chosen by windows for this type of file.

if none of above help, use MPTestTool from start menu, follow steps to reproduce fault, then upload logs using the advanced + feature.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Filmerit showed six errors. One was clearly related to Intervideo - the others didn't make much sense except that they were audio related. By changing the audio decoders to either Dscaler or MPA (not powerdvd or intervideo) the playback functions correctly. I tried re-installing the Intervideo software but this made no difference. Unless there is an obvious answer to why powerdvd and intervideo decoders don't work - I'll stick with what does.

It maybe that the older version will not work correctly with windows, have not tried this but always a possibility.

Installed PowerDVD 7.3. This works fine.
Strange though, version 6 worked fine with my old HTPC software.
All I need to do now is get h/w acceleration to work and I'll be even happier.
