I did a quite deep test for understanding at witch SVN the bug was introduced and I went as back as RC3: no joy

Test were done using first MPV and then Cyberlynk codecs. Just in case I left all the time the file c:\useTsReader.txt in place even if it's not used for those kind of files.

When I play a video ( AVI, DIVX or what ever ) I can F-Fwd only in VMR9 and not in EVR. Also F-Rwd doesn't work at all.

I did some more tests and found that in vmr9.log are written some lines everytime I press a FFwd key:

I would like to recompile dShowHelper.dll after some changes to Core\DirectShowHelper\DirectShowHelper\EVRCustomPresenter.cpp, but I'm not able to get it on Vista.

I also switched from VMR9 to EVR( running Vista, much more vibrant and darker picture which I like) and now when I fast forward or rewind avi's (mostly xvids) it no longer will show the picture going forward or reverse. MKV's have always been like this even under VMR9 but now with using EVR avi's also have it.

Currently runnin the 0.2.3.0 with NO svn's

ok..well i tried a few differnt files, using differnt codecs and containers etc...
in all cases...FFW and FRWD worked in the sense it moved from one part of the movie to another part and at the appropriate X-2/4/8 etc speed

i get frames so i can see whats happening in the video when fast forwarding or rewinding at every speed incriment

there seems to be no control over how many frames...other than the speed of ur cpu gives u more per second
so i guess the results seem to be cpu related and not codec related

the higher bitrate movies (1080p - x264 mkv and mpeg2 .ts) i never saw a frame when ffw or frwding..futher suggesting its cpu related as the the number of frames per second

i did see many frames for low bitrate videos that used xvid, wmv, qt, etc..even low quality x264 and mpeg2

i have an xvid in 720p (farily high quality..but not maxxing out the CPU) for example..and i only got 1 frame every second..whereas the lower bitrate xvid(like a tv show) had far more per second......and seemed to ffw or frwd with more ease

so i think its cpu reliant to have frames appear when ffwding or frwding


on the other hand
