Nag-Screen of Avira Free-Anti Virus disturbes MP while starting or going to stdby (1 Viewer)

Hello everyone!

Since ages I have a problem while going to stdby or resuming MP from stdby. With RC3 and MPstandby Tool, all works fine, but...

I use the free Anti virus kit from Avira. It pulls an update every day. While updating, it displays a big dialog box showing the advantages of the commercial version ;-). This dialog box must be clicked away.
When you do not click it away, it will cause trouble either when going to standby (or hibernation, does not matter) or when resuming. Must be some general Windows problem, but maybe someone can help me with this:

- Does anyone know how to write a script or batch to "click away" the window (when recording on it's own, there is nobody watching to do this manually....)
- Does someone know of a free Antivirus that does not cause such trouble?
- Does someone know how to suppress this window?

I recommend Avast. www.avast.com
It requires a registration for you to get updates but it´s really good and totally free.

It do display popups (dialog box) but you can configure so they dont come when MediaPortal is running.

1. Right-click the avast! notification icon (on the task bar by the clock) and select Program Settings.
2. In the left pane, select Troubleshooting.
3. On the right side, check the Check for full screen applications (e.g. games) before displaying popups checkbox.
4. Click OK.

Hi

I use the free Avira myself, and I think its a great program.
It's actually quite easy suppressing the popup that comes every time it updates.

Hi Again!

Disabling AVnotify.exe via cacls on Windows XP Home does not work anymore (file will be replaced on update).

I will now try Avast....
