So I submit a post apologizing for my previous tone, explaining that I have development experience, explaining some issues I have with MP and I get personally attacked as a "whiner"?

So when I can't find "myblaster.exe" I need to "turn my brain on". But when I suggest someone else "turn their brain on" and put a link to it somehwere on the downloads page I get...

"Oversights happen... deal with it."

Nice.

Lawrence

Actually you went back and editied your "apology" in.

Nice.

Guys, forget the brain thingy, that one goes onto my account. Don't discuss it further, concentrate on the technical support, pls. My kind appologies. I wouldn't wanna read any other comment on that topic, other than support stuff. Thx.

Just a small remark: Let us all remember that MP is not only a beta program, but also open-source and created by a voluteers only group.
So, while Laurence is quite right, the MyBlaster plugin should be available in the download section, I hope that we don't need to get angry on each other about the level of difficulty of finding them somewhere, but, after a combined effort of finding, submit them to the repository. Laurence, if you'd like, you can create an account on the main page and submit the myblaster plugin to the download section, so the "next Laurence" will find it straight away.I not only think that MP is and will be a great product, but also think that this is only achievable if everyone is helping.
(more tree-hugging remarks available on request  )

Ok, I took my medication and I'm much better now. Much better.

Has anyone found an answer to the Hauppage IR drivers not working on a MCE system? Everything that tries to use those IR drivers fails. When launching the IR setup I get "hardware not found". None of the 3rd party apps that use it will work including My Blaster.

Again, MCE talks directly (apparently) to the eHome driver and works fine.

Any suggestions?

    3. It takes a long time to set up the TV Guide. While in MCE all this is done quite automatically inside of MCE, the MP user may have to do numerous things just to get a workable TV Guide, including maybe entering strings into a command window. How many "typical" PC users are going to want to go through that? Not many. I did and I got it working but a typical PC user is not going to want to deal with all of that.

Just want to point this out as its not really a MP problem. If you can supply a standard tvguide xml file then it will use that. Its true that since MCE2005 does it without any input needed its more convenient. The humungeous BUT there though is, thats IF MCE2005 supports your country. If not (like me) then youll have to go through exactly the samething your doing right here. So really MCE2005 is no better as they havent put in place a fullproof system.

Basically if you find a decent grabber, you can set it up in like 5 minutes.

I'm trying to build a foolproof EPG system (WebEPG) that will be intergrated into MP, but thats a topic for a different Thread ;)

Can you explain why none of these applications can see my IR hardware even with the latest drivers?

    1. MyBlaster
    2. Hauppage IR Config

Anything that tries to use the Hauppage IR drivers fails even when I stop the Media Center Receiver service.

Anyone know why? If I can get past that problem I could use MP.

FYI, I copied the above from another thread for not hijacking that one. I'm gonna correct the other thread by editing your last post there.

    Back to topic:

I'm not sure what hardware you really have. I guess you're mixing up 2 things here. So please tell me, do you have a Hauppauge PVR-150 or a Hauppauge PVR-150 MCE? Those are two different cards and if I'm not totally wrong, the MCE version comes with a MCE clone remote, the normal retail version comes with a Hauppauge remote. The Hauppauge one has got 45 buttons and is silver.

So, on this depends what blaster you have. If it's the MCE version, you need the external MyBlaster plugin. If it's the Hauppauge version, you can use the plugin that comes with MediaPortal. You can find it in configuration.exe/Plugins. That's the plugins section everyone pointed you to, I guess. It's not the website.

If possible, supply a photo, if you're unsure.

If we know this, I'm sure there are people here who can give you support on this. As said, those are 2 completely different hardwares, so that's the prerequisite for supporting you.

Almost forgot: Before there will be questions why the MyBlaster is not part of the MP distribution, there are plans to implement it towards 0.2.0 release. Until then it's an external plugin, link is on the first page of this thread.

I have the MCE version. The remote with the Green Button. I suppose it's an MCE Clone?

I wonder if it will use the xml file from MCE. I'll give that a try.

    Lawrence

MCE2005's tvguide file is *almost* standard, but it needs a certain part stripped out. Cant be sure until I have a look tomorrow (Im using a MCE grabber myself but wrote a java file to remove the extras). I *think* (will confirm tomorrow) it might just be the first and last line.
