Okay, now we're talking. :) CHANNEL KEYT Why did the cursor freeze? The MediaPortal user interface always freezes while tuning. Why did tuning take so long? From the log files it looks like it took ~1m 45s rather than 5 minutes. During that time TV Server tried and failed to timeshift that channel with all 6 of your tuners. All tuners successfully tuned, but not one of them started streaming video or audio. In each case TV Server gave up waiting for video/audio after 15 seconds. 6 tuners x 15 seconds waiting for video/audio = 1m 30s That explains most of the time. You can reduce the wait by having TV Server try fewer tuners ("maximum free cards to try") or not wait so long for each tuner ("wait for timeshift file"): http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/141_Configuration/TV-Server_Configuration/08_Timeshifting The remaining 15 seconds is loading and tuning time for 6 tuners. It can't be reduced... but if you ask me, loading and tuning 6 tuners at ~2.5 seconds per tuner is pretty good, all things considered. Why did timeshifting fail? In short: I don't know. It looks like the tuners simply didn't deliver any video or audio. If I were to speculate I might guess that:

KEYT is "copy once" protected
you've got network security software preventing TV Server from receiving a clean stream from the tuner
Summary I can't explain why all of the tuners failed to deliver video or audio. Most of the 1m 45s delay is in your control. There is nothing further that I can investigate here with the information that is currently available. CHANNEL KQED Why did tuning take so long? Tuning actually took approximately 19 seconds: TV Server tried and failed with 1 tuner (again, after waiting 15 seconds for video/audio to be delivered as explained above... though this time video arrived but audio didn't) then succeeded with the second tuner. After that, it took MediaPortal another 13 seconds or so to start playing the stream: The biggest part of that delay is here: In the TsReader log it can be seen here: I'm not 100% sure why that 10 second delay happened, but I suspect TsReader was waiting for required video/audio info that never arrived. Why was there no picture or sound? I think TsReader gave up waiting for video and/or information. Absence of picture and sound is just a symptom of that. Another symptom can be seen in the logs: Summary This looks like another manifestation of the problems discussed with KEYT. There is nothing further that I can investigate here with the information that is currently available. CHANNEL TBS This looks like a fairly typical channel change. TV Server took ~5 seconds to tune: The rest is MediaPortal. I note that your preferred video codec - "Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder" - is not being used. CHANNEL CMDY Almost exactly the same as KEYT. Nothing to add beyond what I already said about KEYT. CHANNEL KKFXD Almost exactly the same as KQED. I can't help with the not responding bit, but from the logs it looks like MediaPortal was closed the normal way. SUMMARY I can't give you hard evidence that MP and TV Server are not the problem, but from the logs it sure looks that way. When TV Server loads your tuners it checks the tuner information. This stands out: So, maybe most of the channels you're trying are DRM protected/restricted and can't be viewed in TV Server. In general my opinion is that all of the things you're seeing can probably be traced right back to your tuner. Maybe the CableCARD is no good or not activated properly; maybe there are DRM limitations; maybe security software is causing streaming issues; maybe a combination of all of the above is involved. I can only suggest that you try to use the tuner's web interface to test tuning various channels and see what the copy protection level is. If they're copy-freely they should be viewable in MediaPortal. You can also cross-check what I've said with other applications - VLC, WMC, NPVR + SageDCT - to confirm that the problems really are related to your tuner, CableCARD, or something external to MP and TV Server.
