Now spent two days trying to install MP 1.0.1 but cannot get past the .net framework error

".net framework 2.0 installed but SP 2.0 required"

As directed I install .net Framework 3.5 sp1 but still get the same error even though 3.5 SP1 is successfully installed. I have tried every conceivable permutation of uninstall, reboot, reinstall etc but the same error appears.

I have followed the links in the forum but still no joy

Currently loaded are: .net framework 1.1, 1.1 hotfix and 3.5 SP1

Any heads up would be appreciated.

thanks, I tried that but got an operating system error (I have Vista 32-bit) - 2.0 is for XP and a link to 3.5 was provided.

I have a spare copy of Vista 64 and I am thinking of doing a complete fresh re-install with this instead. A major step though as I have done a lot of tweeks over the past 3 years getting mp just right.

Any more advice accepted before I jump in tomorrow afternoon.

    Windows Version: Vista home premium

That should have .net2.0 preinstalled, my Ultimate has only ever updated .net3.5, even just checked all my windows updates, so you may have a corrupt OS.

Is it possible to do a repair with Vista home install disk, sorry just do not know on that one, but that's the first thing I would try before using my image backup to restore OS (again does Home have this, if so use it after reinstall, takes 10 minutes to restore Vista sp2, so sweet:)).

Just check the current requirements for MP before doing anything else.

Good luck with this, always a pita to restore a OS from original disk :(

Thanks for the comments - I will try an OS repair but if that still does not work I am going to do a fresh installation of Vista 64-bit (I have being toying with this upgrade for a while).

If you don't hear from me for a while, you will know I am in Microsoft hell...

new OS installed (Vista64) and all is progressing well. Got MP 1.0.2 installed and now just getting all the channels and guide data etc setup again - backups no good with new OS and file structure so its a bottom up build again. Hope I can remember all the tweaks I've done over the past few years...

Unfortunately I have no idea why my last OS wouldn't accept the new .Net but it forced me down an upgrade path I had been considering for a while.

The new Xface with moving pictures and TV Series has made it all worthwhile - Great work guys keep it up, donation submitted....

    :D
