Hi,

I'm using Mediaportal to play videos from a mapped network drive. The network drive is configuread as normal video folder.
Due to a weak wlan connection (300mbps, but very weak signal, real bandwidth: ~0.3 mb) I get sometimes (~ 5 min) discontinues.

Is there a way to raise any kind of cache within mediaportal or windows for this connection type?
Would setting up a FTP-Server improve the situation?

thanks for your replies!

Re: improve playback from network drive

I just tried FTP.

Did did not expect that the files have to be downloaded via FTP first bevore they would be played, but that's in fact an advantage to me.

But I've a problem with "umlauts" now. The chars like "ä", "ü", ... are correctly displayed, but the files can't be transfered. Moreover, folders with "umlauts" in their path are shown as empty (after a short delay).

I'm using Filezilla server which uses UTF-8 encoding by default. Swithing to an older Filezilla version with ascii (or whatever) causes the umlauts to be displayed falsely and does not solve the problem anyway.

Any suggestions?
