Since upgrading to MP 1.15 (from 1.12), I've had a problem with the folders in My Videos going missing. They are all network shares to my NAS. They are there when I first start MP, but after some time, they just don't show up anymore. The DVD drive is the only folder left. I can still access everything through Moving Pictures and My TV Series, so the shares are definitely there, and indeed, if I go and do a database scan from My Videos, it will find movies on the network share folders and add them to the database.

Stopping and restarting MediaPortal will restore the folders in My Videos at least for a while.

Tried upgrading to 1.16 Pre, but the problem is still there.

    Hello

    Thanks for the report.

This is not a known problem and I've never seen a similar report, so I'm not able to say "do XYZ and the problem will be solved".

Without log files, there's very little information for us to work with, and really not a lot more that I could say...

It's not a WOL issue. NAS is on 24x7.
    Logs attached.
Also, if I change to any of the other views (eg Title) I can see and access all my movies. Just cannot see anything tin the shares view.

    Logs attached.
    Thanks.

Those log files are not ideal because the log level was set to "info" rather than "debug". If you're going to use Watchdog option 3 ("export..."), you need to manually set the log level in MP Configuration before reproducing the problem. The log level is automatically set if you use Watchdog option 1 or 2.

The other thing that makes it difficult is that you haven't said anything about when (what time) the problem happened.

This has the problem in it. Trouble is, right before this, I was watching a movie with Moving Pictures using the movies share. Looks like the hostname lookup is failing, but I wouldn't expect DNS to resolve the UNC. The UNC name has been working flawlessly for about 12 months, and only started failing after I upgraded from 1.12 to 1.15.

...and here's the name resolution working shortly after a MP restart:

[2017-01-10 16:51:39,455] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - UNCTools: AsyncDNSReverseLookup: ip '192.168.100.80' resolved for host 'homenas' in 843.7522 ms

    [2017-01-10 16:51:40,314] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - UNCFileFolderExists: Folder'\\HOMENAS\video\Kids TV Shows' exists!
[2017-01-10 16:51:41,173] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - UNCTools: AsyncDNSReverseLookup: ip '192.168.100.80' resolved for host 'homenas' in 843.7511 ms
    [2017-01-10 16:51:41,173] [Log ] [MPMain ] [DEBUG] - UNCFileFolderExists: Folder'\\HOMENAS\video\Kids Movies' exists!

What could be causing it to fail? My network is solid - I stream movies from my NAS to this machine all the time without problem.

I guess I could solve it with a local hosts file, but that's really messy.

Can you try to add homenas to to host file?
