new and cheap remote (2 Viewers)

i just found a way to make and use the xbox 1 remote on MP. but i need some help key mapping the buttons. whats so good about it is that no MP config. is needed. basically from what i understand it kinda makes the remote mimic keyboard short keys.thats the problem i dont now how to make the remote work the plays stop pause ect buttons. the only buttons that work are the 1-0 Up down left right and enter button. the display button full screens or minimizes MP. its pretty good for a $20 remote that needs no configuration in MP. which i found a bit of a *^&*.
I was also hoping that some one would pick this up and make a plugin for it. its open source. i dont now how to do that stuff. i will be glad to help test or any other thing. i also thing that you can use the MCE remote with the IR which would also allow you the possibility to customize all the buttons.

Looks like we should be able to support this pretty easily.

I've had a quick look at some of the source code for the XBCDRC utility. It's delphi, which is not my native tongue but it should be pretty easy to make a plugin for mediaportal that will let you map the buttons to commands inside mediaportal.

I'm away for three days from tomorrow but I will have a look at it as soon as I can and get back to you if I come up with anything. I'll have to wire up my Xbox remote receiver, but that should be a bit of fun!

It's too hot too sleep here at the moment, so I did some coding ...

I stole some code out of the mediaportal mce remote support and used some I had written for my message plugin and came up with this...

There is a plugin attached to this post that will hopefuly do what you want. Follow the install instructions in the readme file inside the zip.

EDIT: Removed obsolete attachment

I can't test it myself yet because I haven't soldered up my Xbox receiver. But if you give it a try and it works then it's mission accomplished. If it doesn't work (fair chance of that) then you can at least send me your mediaportal log file and I'll be quicker able to fix it on my return.

so i closed MP and XBCDRC turned off. so i went to run the application XBCDRC in windows and i got this error

Access Violation at address 00458147 in moudule "XBCDRC.exe" read of address 00000500

so i open task mannager closed XBCDRC.exe then ran it again and it works. in windows and mp but not thru your plugin. and not you keymapping.
if i turn it off and run Mp again it doesnt work and it started again with the error.

i dont really no whats happened

Hi deezee69,

Try disabling the XBCDRC.exe file before you try the plugin. That might be interfering.

Also, can you please provide your full log file?

That will help me figure out the problem.

I've got a couple of hours today, so I'll try again.

I'll have to wire up my own xbox receiver when I get a chance though.

ok, I'm back.

And I've wired up my Xbox remote receiver.

I've got the plugin working. I'm not 100% happy with it so I wont be putting it up on the download section just yet. But it is working for me now.

Give the attached copy a try and let me know how you go...
