Codecs new Codecs from ATI !!! (1 Viewer)

Hi,

has anyone of you tested the Catalyst 10.2 BETA?

After installing i was very surprised that ATI provides own codecs

They work quite well for MPEG2 and H.264 as i have seen after a quick test, certainly with DXVA.

I think these are the same that were installed with the AVIVO package.

But I do remember that ATi said that 10.2 and 10.3 were going to be exciting releases

I already do a ghost of the machine each day - what I meant was that I need to resist from fiddling as the machine works fine, and there is no reason at all to install the new codecs.. however the geek in me loves to fiddle and try out latest/greatest

Maybe I'll try them out when I update to 1.1!

The AVIVO codecs doesn't work with 720p DVB-T here in Denmark, massive framedrops (DR HD).

the ATI codecs don't work for me DVB-C Germany too. Not for HD and not for SD. MS DTV is def. better

I'm also not shure whether these codecs are new. AVIVO was not included in Cat package in the past but you were able to download them seperatly and in the past they were simply old PowerDVD 7 codecs...

Hmm, i'm running ATI CCC 10.5, and i can't seem to find any ATI codecs available, just using the MS codecs atm...

I wouldn't bother about the AVIVO codecs, they are not very mature, and not widely used. There are lots of other widely used DXVA codecs already available.

eg. MS W7 DXVA Codecs / PDVD7 / PDVD8 / PDVD9 / PDVD10 / Arcsoft / MPC-HC / FFDShow (New build uses MPC-HC code) / Core-AVC (Partial DXVA)

Am I missing any?
