It is not about the size of the history or that the database is not maintained/checked. Recording details are stored and TV Server will know it is re-recording an episode when it does it. The point is that when the file is not present TV Server consciously chooses to re-record. That is a design decision. As far as I know the original developers made that decision and it hasn't be changed since.Yes, I think it will. Might seem counter intuitive but that's the way it works.
This has probably been suggested as an improvement many times, but it really needs to be addressed. I'm no developer, but it seems a database of shows recorded could be maintained and checked -- even a heavy user's history would not grow so large as to be a burden.
What would have to be done to make it an option? We do need more options, after all.
Obviously you'd still need season/episode info because without that there is no sure fire way to determine whether two episodes are identical or different... but aside from that, I pass. If you want to follow up, ask the plugin developer (huha I think) why it doesn't work for you.The "TV Wish list" plugin claims to be able to do this, but it doesn't for me.
I was only mentioning it for OP's benefit, since the name does not reflect all of what it does -- and I do have episode info for most shows.
