I dont like the new structure either... I cant find a bunch of forums I used to go on often... for example, the Plugins discussion forum I havent found (granted I only looked for about 30 secs)... I found Plugin Development but not regular plugins discussion...

Couldnt find use for many of the forums listed, most are empty... maybe they'll come to use, but just so many doesnt make sense in one go...

Anyways, I suggest showing the entire tree in the main page... makes it a bit easier to find stuff... The icons dont look very nice ither IMHO... I still preferred the old structure, but I guess you guys have had your motives....

since the Plugins and the Plugin Development forums were pretty much the same. the team decided to merge them.

all posts/threads from the plugins forum are now in the Plugin Developement forum.

this has allready been asked ::here:: ;)

they are empty because the new structure is only a few days old. how should they be full of threads right now

No. thats a very bad idea.
A index page MUST be as short as possible. because ppl do not like to scroll pages to the end.
The old structure was much longer. And this caused that many ppl just posted in any forum.

Now you see "aaah this forum is about Music, great i have a question for Music. lets see whats in there"

With the old structure you had to search ONE forum with thousands of threads. And if you found one thread, it could be that it is +20 pages long (i.e. BASS thread)

    Same for support.
Many support threads got buried after a few hours because many other threads were started too.

As you may know, many developers were focusing on one feature (i.e. MyTV, MyMusic ect.).
Support was not that easy, because of the amount of different support threads started every day in ONE forum.

Now the main features have their own sections in the forum.

Which means if a user posts his support question in the correct section. (i.e. MyMusic) he should also receive a response quicker, because ppl who are spending much/most time with MyMusic will be browsing this MyMusic forums very frequently.

And since the support forum is in the same section, they will SEE your support question.
Same goes for the developer(s) who spends the most time on the Music part of MediaPortal.
They are short of time because they/we do everything in their spare time.

Now they only have to monitor ONE section where they can give support and talk about this specific feature they have focused on.
Exactly the same is valid for the other subforums like Improvement Suggestions, Tips and Tricks. ect.!

Anyone realised the benefit of the new structure now? ;)

Anyway. I know that some ppl do not like changes in general.
But i also know that i can not please everyone.
Give the new structure some time and a chance ;)

We will see if the current amount of subforums will stay, be expanded or be reduced.

For now this struture will stay. :)

I hope that this will not affect the development of the skins for MediaPortal because the "Graphics / Skins Development" is on the very bottom of the frontpage. I have 1280x1024 here and had to do a lot of scrolling to find this subforum...

Just a minor suggestion, don't know if discussed already:
What about replacing the "Start New Topic | Search | RSS Feed | XML Feed" links with links to the subforums?
