MediaPortal Version: 0.2.3.0 RC3
Windows Version: Windows Vista Business (32-bit)
CPU Type: Athlon64 3000+
Memory: 1GB

The new installer hangs at
"Extract: yac-area-codes.xml... 100%"
or
"Extract: XPBurnComponent.dll... 100%"

I tried installing a few times to reproduce the problem and first it was only on "yac-area-codes..", then also on "XPBurnCopmonent".
It then doesn't seem to do anything for 2-3 minutes and uses up almost 100% CPU during that time. After a few minutes of hanging, installation continues and is quickly finished.

I've looked a bit more into it, the problem is probably related to some issue with reading/writing to the system registry. I've openend Process Monitor and ran the installation again to see what it's doing while hanging: It's trying to open a registry key which doesn't exist and repeats that request every 2-20 seconds.

Here's a screenshot of the process monitor output: http://exp6.net/random/mp.png

I also encountered this problem first time I installed. After uninstalling RC2, I ran the installer and it hung on XPBurnComponent.dll. I waited a couple of minutes but it didn't restart so I killed it. When I reran, it went through, though it did pause at a different file for a much shorter time.

Note that mptray.exe was running during the first install, but I killed it before the second install.

Cheers!

the installer does not hang. it just needs some time.

this is because of the uninstall-filelist generation.
a new version of the installer will be up soon.
