New Install, Can't Play HD .iso Files

    Hi all,

I'm a new member / first time HTPC builder, though experienced with building PCs and audio / video systems.

I'm bench-testing a HTPC to finalize final plans for several machines to be used at home and at my shop in server / front end configuration. I do not plan to use it for TV.

Right now I have an all-in-one test undersay to get comfortable with the software.

Details below, but all is going pretty well, except I can't play my HD .iso files in MP for some reason.

Here's the steps I've done so far:

A normal fresh XP32 Pro install fully updated.

I have followed damaster's nice MedialPortal Install Guide with no changes.

All seems to be working fine, except when I attempt to play an HD .iso file obtained from either a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD source with AnyDVD, I never get any video. After selecting the movie,

I get a full screen set of graphics and text from Streamed MP, and the Daemon tools window comes up and indicates Unmounting Image, then Mounting Image, no video though. I can go up to

the top of the screen for navigation and press play, but all I get is another set of Unmounting Image -> Mounting Image info again.

I can play SD-DVD files ok.

Other than allowing Windows Media Player to install, I haven't installed any kind of player on the machine at this point as I had intended to use the player built into MP.

I figure I must be missing something basic. Any help would be apprecaited.

A bit of an update on this from me.

I was advised by a friend that I had to have a blu-ray player installed, so I made an image of the drive and installed the powerdvd that came with my LG drive. This enabled playing of the files, but powerdvd was running "under" MP. When I exited MP I could see powerdvd running the movie. I went and turned off the "keep MP on top" option in MP configuration and it works fine now.

Assuming there wasn't a better / easier way to do this, I think I'm good, except that I guess I have to upgrade to powerdvd ultra to get 7.1 out of it.
