First, I finally upgraded MovingPics from the old stable release. The new category feature is nice. Having to quickly scroll passed fanart for movies like Hostel, etc to get to movies like Up for my daughter was getting old Thanks for the hard work, devs!

Second, since there's really no info about a films release date (e.g. blu-ray street date) except for year, has anyone come up with a slick solution for defining "New Releases"? The Recently Added category works OK, but it can include movies old and new. I was thinking of maybe a combo of recently added + year filter... that's not perfect, but would probably suffice.

While I'd only have to do it once a year, I'm guessing there's no way to make the year dynamic, similar to days (e.g. -1y)?

It would be nice if BD/DVD street date was available, but it doesn't appear in an obvious/consistent place on imdb... eh...

You can sort the category according to anything. For example, I have setup a category with playtime where I have it ordered with Runtime ascending.

You could filter the non-kid movies via the Parental filter, so they are simply not shown under any category until PIN code is supplied.

And you can use the MPAA or alike certification field to filter on this easy for your entire collection. So by default you can have all PG-13 and under movies to be shown, and when movies are unblocked, everything else appears as well.

You could just duplicate the existing recently added filter by adding an extra condition that 'year' has to be larger then 2009. You are not limited to just a single condition, you can create extremly complex combinations to get exactly the result you desire.
