New Setup (1 Viewer)

Where to begin.

This is my plan:

1 - comcast cable box
1 - pc/media center running windows 7
3 - tv's 2 hardwired 1 wireless
2 - laptops wireless connection
2 - tablets 1 android 1 ipad wireless connection
2 - android smartphones wireless connection
1 - ps3 hardwired

So basically I am starting from zero but if it is possible I would like to connect via my laptops, phones and tablets from anywhere in the world.

I need to know what hardware to use. Optimal computer hardware to keep everything running smoothly with minimal load time.

Is there anything else I should be asking? Or what should I expect?

Thanks in advance...Any advice would be helpful.

Just a basic question - What are you trying to achieve with MP?

• Will be watching HD or SD Movies?
• Watching live TV? It yes, satellite, cable or terrestrial?
• Listening to internet radio streams?
• Watching Blu Rays?
• Do have a HDD full of existing movies you would want to integrate?
• Will you be listening to radio?
• Music?

If you can give an indication of what you will be using MP for, or the expectations you have of MP then others will be able to give more detailed information on how to integrate your existing bits of kit.

Additionally, your location would help too. The forum is an international group and covers Europe, Australia, US, Africa and Asia and as such different areas have different TV standards and require different advice.

Porky- Thanks for you response. My ultimate goal is to have 1 media hub for all of my media devices. I don't want 1 cable box so that I don't have to pay for 3 box's and 3 dvr fees each month. I want to be able to pull my media up on any tv, mobile phone or tablet. I will be using it for everything.

• Listening to internet radio streams? no
• Watching Blu Rays? Yes watching movies
• Do have a HDD full of existing movies you would want to integrate? I have about 100 existing movies and more to follow
• Will you be listening to radio? I do have a home surround sound.
• Music? Streaming from my personal audio files.
