Hi all

I replaced my Terratec 2400i dual-tuner card with a new one, because the Terratec was full-height, and I needed a low-profile one. The terratec worked excellent and I can really recommend this card.

My new card is a Happauge WinTV-NOVA-T-500 HD which works fine with the WinTV application that was shipped with the card.

When I configure MediaPortal TV-Server, the preview-window of the channels has excellent picture and sound. Signal is 60% strength, 100% quality, same values as on my Humax STB which always has worked just fine (2 years).

The problem is when I try to watch TV in MediaPortal, then I have severe stuttering in both sound and image, and green macro-blocking like hell

I have tried changing the video-codec for MPEG2 in MP Config, but it really doesn't seem to make any difference.

I have the client and the server on same machine (for now) so I don't think the network is to blame. Timeshift-files are on a RAM-drive (virtual drive in RAM) so this should be more than fast enough.

My harddrive is a Samsung 2.5 drive (250G) and worked without flaws with my old TV-card.

I even switched from Windows XP to Vista, just to test if this made any difference.

I hope someone can help me in pointing out possible solutions.

Just to test change the timeshifting from your ram drive to a hdd, does it still occur then.

The green ting usually relates to drivers\codecs, do the latest 8.12 version make any difference, reports of don't have the CCC installed, because that can cause problem.

I just checked and for the first time i see the stuttering in WinTV too. Using the program "ScanChannelsBDA_UK.exe" i now see that the quality seems to have dropouts down at around 40-60%. So...this is apparantly not related to MediaPortal but to a flaky signal.

Th weird thing is that the Terratec card worked fine all the time. My Humax STB hovers stable at 66-67% strenght @ 100% quality...

The conclusion of this must be that the Hauppauge card goes back to where it came from, and I find another low-profile card

You could also check if TsWriter / TsReader logs show any discontinuity errors (that would prove the bad signal to be the case).

That is strange about the signal, T500 is meant to be one of the best reception cards out there, my signal strength is about 50% and signal quality 100% (got 5 DVB receivers in house, so aerial split on amplifier) otherwise would be around the 75% mark, but i very rarely get any breakup of signal and certainly no stutter.

Is there another pci slot you could move it too, know agp graphics can interfer, not sure whether onboard graphics may still have some affect on the pci bus.

Hey Pilehave, I had similar issues with a hvr-2200 card and decided to return it after having battled the stutter and tearing it produced in MP for several days. Did you find a working L.P. card that satisfies your needs?
