I have just backed up my existing set-up with acronis

and then installed Moving Pictures 1.0b

It does look much better..and of course has the extra features..for genres, categories, years etc
plus as you mentioned the nice Parental control.
Thanks for the tip on how to do that..fforde!

Just one issue ..and it maybe something I should have spotted..
but being this is my first real set-up of media portal 1.1.0 stable beta
I am hoping it is something simple..

I am using StreamMP skin in simple menu mode..and when I select
Moving Pictures..it starts...
but it seems to get confused and doesnt show list mode properly

there is an individual movie text and cover art(blank)on top of the list mode text..
although there is no movie data loaded..ie its blank(no coverart)

then if I hit ok on remote..as the "all movies" is highlighted in shown list mode
it goes to the first individual movie data.

Going back is the same...

any thoughts or tips as to why this is??

Also I downloaded Moving pictures 1.0 fanart(zip)
where does this get put ..to take affect...??

or is it already part of the Moving Pictures 1.0b that I Installed?

The display problem is because you are using an old version of StreamedMP. Grab the updated version from here. Instructions are listed in the first post of the thread on where to copy the files.

you don;t need to download a fanart .zip file, moving pictures will auto DL the fanart for you.
if you want to manually add fanart then save each fanart as backdrop.jpg in the movie folder

    eg.

\batman\batman.avi ; (the batman movie file)
\batman\backdrop.jpg ; (the fanart background for batman movie)
\batman\folder.jpg ; (the cover/dvd art for batman movie)

The combination of the new StreamedMP ...Moving Pictures 1.0 look
(along with new backdrop art and category art) makes for a very nice look!!

Thanks guys for the information and pointers in that area!
Especially as I was on my last ounce of awakeness this morning(after going all night)

And whether its the addition of the arcsoft plugin and/or the upgrade of Moving pictures to 1.0
my issue with the 1080p 24Hz refresh rate change..has seemingly gone??!!
ie I now get 24hz scaled correctly to full screen...and no longer has borders!

...with a fast remote..the interface is very smooth indeed!
and so far playing ..navigating is working well! (touching wood for luck)

I have to say the new category icons are very nice..hats off to those involved...
    its a great addition!

So if the install of upgrades and plugins can be improved via a nice interface
and it seems thats what they are trying for, with the final 1.1.0 release
then I think Media Portal is actually quite solid and very good lookin!

Maybe needs more work on guides...especially for newbies like me
but that will come with the finalisation of the 1.1.0RC
and the final release of MovingPictures 1.0

Now onwards to refine the remote set-up...thru checking the default remote
button/key set-up...and seeing if I can get my remote to use some of the extra

features like mapping the windows media center button
    to start media portal instead
