Hi Harry,
You can see my system spec by clicking on 'system' below the country flag under my avatar image. I cannot remember straight off; it is a Gigabyte mobo and a AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000 processor.
As Mew says there could be a bandwidth issue, I don't know as I never went down the adaptor route. If I were to need more PCIe slots, I think I would try for a different motherboard just to be sure.
I got the mobo 2nd hand off eBay and wasn't too sure what I was really looking for. I got it as it had a built in graphics, but this was eventually lacking in performance so I got a better graphics to get smooth playback on full HD. I didn't look too much at the PCI/e slots - it just didn't occur to me. I must admit I didn't really know all the possibilities of MP prior to setting it up, so I felt I really took a punt when I shelled out for the kit. I have to say that I'm really pleased that I did, and have been using it as the main living room TV system for two years now. Any difficulties I have had have been answered on this forum and I'm grateful to all who contribute as my set up stable and works really well.
