Hi

I'm evaluating media portal for my new HTPC system and so far I'm pretty impressed. Amm my music is ALAC encoded with proper tagging and embedded covers. MP is the first app other than iTunes I've used that can properly read the tags and covers (although XMBC came close) so things are going well.

However there are 2 things that are driving me mad. I'm sure they're easy to sort for those in the know.

The first is around views. I sort iTunes using "Album by Aritist" this essentially applies a grouped sort on the album artisit tag then the album title. Simple - I get a list of all albums by album artist -> album title. MP is nearly there with this. I click My Music and with the Album artist view selected I get the #, A, B, etc. options list. Lets say I pick M. I then get a list of all the Album Artists starting with M so I click Ministry of Sound and finally actually see the 20 or albums there

All I want when I click my music is the same list I get in iTunes. So...I created a new view with 2 lines as :

selection = albumartist, operator = group, ViewAs = Albums, SortBy = Album
selection = tract, ViewAs = list, SortBy = Track

I was thinking this would do the trick and while I get a list of album artists they're not in the correct order and when I try and click on one I just get a codec error so I deleted the view:(

The 2nd problem I have (which wouldn't be a problem if I could get the above working!) is around cover images and the way they're used in lists and groups. As an example if I select group B and then Bedrock I can see both singles displayed correctly as per this pic:

However the Bedrock group seems to have selected 4 other covers, none of which are Bedrock:

This seems to be happening a lot. I'm assuming there's something in the tagging that's pulling these?

If I could get both issues sorted I'd finally be on to a HTPC winner after trashing all manner of front end apps!

cheers
