Hi Guys,

First thing i can say is thank you to everyone who has been involved in the dev of this brilliant software. I have only installed it this week and i think its fab!

Second thing, is i have a couple of questions...

1) When you are scanning for channels (DVB-T) and say you have selected UK - All Regions, what happens when duplicate channels are found? Is the srongest signal used? I can receive from 3 different transmitters and some channels are repeated across them.

2) Is it likely that in the future, actual channel orders will be correct when scanning and adding them to the channel list? I know i can manually set them to the correct order according to the freeview lisitings.

Many thanks again :D and no doubt i will have some more questions if i can't seem to find them using the search button :D

Hi,

its a great package innit :D

1) If its finds three channels it lists them all (or did on my machine) and then you select the ones you want it to display using that card only.

2) The channel orders I believe are listed in the order that Media Portal "finds" them, in reality they are not actually in the order you would see them in say a freeview box. Thats my guess anyway, but its easy enough to correct the order.

Hmm, its not done that for me. I'm sure that some of the channels are duplicated across the transmitters. I will run that dos exe that generates a log file with all the signals that the card can pick up.

Okay i checked this out last night. I did a scan for all regions in the UK and that populated my channel list. I then updated the transmitters file so that it included my local ones (dover and dover B), i then rescan using these and it added a load more channels at the bottom of the list. So it didn't update the existing channels. The strange thing was that it added the channels with completely different names, eg "Television X - Five" instead of the "Television X" that was already in the list. (good choice of example eh?)

I have another question, is there a way to tell media portal to disable any screen savers whilst it is running and to then reenable them once it has closed?

Many Thanks!

Oh this software rocks! Even more so now that i have got my compro remote working with the Message Plugin. That also rocks as well :D

@Channels, I have two options:

1) take a provider in the neighbourhood and change the frequencies to match yours
2) scan all (as you did) and delete duplicates also based on frequencies. The closest match to your provider is probably the best reception

I would take option 1, since it is much faster. However I do not know whether it works in the UK

Personally delete all channels and rescan Dover only, makes life a lot easier on the EPG front and names.

If you have more than one DVB card, assign channels to the other card, otherwise again you can end up with the renaming game and it does have a habit of screwing the EPG up
