I have an nmediapc keyboard and remote. The box says that the remote is an 'MCE remote'. I figured it would 'just work' with media portal. I was wrong. I am able to use the arrow keys and then numbers on the remote.. and thats about it. How do I get the other buttons recognized within MP?

Thanks

OS (incl. SP)?
1. Did you check the config -> remotes -> mce?
2. If "no go", then try IR Server Suite

My OS is XP SP3. Yes, I did check the MCE box in the config - remote - mce section.

This nmediaPC keyboard and remote use a USB RF receiver... so this is not an IR setup. Would IR server suite still benefit me? (does it work with RF remotes too?)

Thanks for any help.

The only way to find out is try it.

Does not matter whether it infra red or radio frequency, its what information the driver outputs that counts.

I am also having trouble with this remote/keyboard combo set inter acting with 1.0, I don't understand how to map the MCE keys and the FAQ is not complete in this area. If you came up with a way to resolve this please post TIA. If not any help would be helpful. I also didn't see a IR Server suite integrated into MP 1.0, is this a standalone program, if so witch on do you recommended.

I did seem to find a solution. It is not perfect (not all remote keys work quite yet) but it is certainly a start and much better than it was before.
I am using a program called EventGhost. Search eventghost's forum for 'media portal' and you should find a solution (that's what I did). I don't recall exactly all the steps I did, otherwise I'd list them here. Let me know if you can't find the info I referred to..
