No audio from DVD's (only in MP) (1 Viewer)

Hi,
I am having a problem with audio (I don't have any) on DVD playback.
I have ripped all my dvd collection to the hard drive using 'Magic DVD'. Each film is in a folder which has been given the name of the dvd. These are all in the 'movies' folder. No compression was used so .vob.
When I ripped them I selected only the main movie and one soundtrack.
The soundtracks varied from dolby digital, dts and 2 channel stereo according to the disk.

When I run media portal they all show up fine in the 'movies' view and one click lets me play them but there is no sound coming out of the speakers.
I do find, however, if I leave the full screen view (so the film is still playing in the small window) that the graphic equliser thing is moving as if sound is being played.
I get sound fine from all the 'Video Clip' files on the hard drive.
I don't think it is a codec issue as all the films play fine from the hard drive if I use windows media player (v.9) or Intervideo dvd player. I also get sound from the music and both live and recorded TV.

After a bit of reading up and messing about: Looking at the folders containing the rips, There is a VIDEO_TS.IFO file, a VTS_01_0.IFO file Several .VOB files and a couple of .BUP files in each one. If I use WMP or Intervideo to play them I simply open the folder and double-click either the VIDEO_TS or the VTS_01_0 icon and it them plays the film with sound.
I have noticed that there are NO Audio_TS folders (but as mentioned I still get sound using any program other than MP.

Also, If I put the original DVD in the the optical drive I stil get no sound when playing from Media Portal but works fine with anything else.
I am running the latested release and have been updating the SVN's for the last couple of weeks with no change.

Am I missing something simple? Does MP need a AUDIS_TS folder to get the sound from? If so, how come I get no sound from a actuall DVD in the optical Drive? I dont think the audio out socket on the optical drive is connected to the motherboard but thats not a problem for WMP etc (plus I am switching to a SATA drive anyway).

Ps. I have installed the following codecs: MPA Decoder Filter, FFDShow/Nvidia/Descaler/Intervideo/Nero Digital Decoders and Cyberlink Mpeg Muxer.
As before, 'Video Clip' (I presume these are avi's or something) work fine.

You CAN configure MP to use any external DVD player. I'd suggest checking the audio codec settings under DVD and Movies as I'm not sure which MP uses. I personally use AC3Filter (1.09a) to pass my digital audio stream. There can be issues between audio/video codecs. Also, are you using Daemon?
