i just fixed a problem and am posting it here to help others who may have done something similar and foobar'd their own installation.
if your tv was working fine but now gives the error No audio/video detected you may want to make sure that the folder tvserver/MP is timeshifting or saving to actually exists.
I had removed a hard drive from my computer without any thought to what may be referencing it.
As a programmer by trade i am amazed and the sheer volume of error trapping i have to code.
now, having just displayed a perfect example of how badly an end user can behave, i feel i may have to bludgeon myself to death with a Microsoft Press book...
