Hi, Strange effect on my single seat MP1 setup.
    I use a BlackGold TV Card that has 2 x DVB-S and 2 x DVB-T in the UK.
Most of my EPG channels are the DVB-S listings and I have not done any combining etc in TV sever setup as everything is working well.
If both of the two available DVB-S are being used I get the warning that there are no free tuners, So I switch to view another channel on DVB-T. I get the audio but only a black screen. Re-Boot MediaPortal and everything is OK and I can watch DVB-T whilst two DVB-S channels are recording.
Before I go crashing through the TV Server setup and start clicking without really having a knowlegable plan I wonder if I could get some direction from the experts.
    Log attached.
    Regards to all

    Sure! :)

First thing you ought to do is to configure your TV codec settings. To that end I would follow this guide:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/guide-perfect-playback-display-calibration.119610/

The 5 minute version should be fine, with only one caveat: I don't recommend using the MediaPortal Audio Renderer for TV.

If the problem persists after that (which I expect it should not!), please post fresh log files.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
As I get to grips with this I notice a tip to remain with Win7 rather than Win8, does this also apply to the current free upgrades available to Win10?
Should I stick with Win7 for now?
I have a year to take the free upgrade offer from Microsoft so no problem to wait for a while.
    Cheers

You should do whatever you want. As far as I'm concerned it makes little or no difference to MediaPortal. Other people will have their own opinions. Whatever you do, just make a choice and stick with it. With the greatest respect, I don't really want to help you get MP perfectly set up on W7 or W8... and then have to help you through the same steps a week or a month later when you decide to try W10. That just seems like a bit of a waste of time to me. ;)

    Fair enough.
I will leave Win10 until next year and I am brave enough to give MP2 another try.

Went through the setup and realised that this was the setup I used when I installed MediaPortal.
So not much was changed, however the few changes made no difference so I have posted some logs when the problem occurs, and logs after restarting MediaPortal when the problem goes away.
I hope the information is helpful just for reference.
I am not too bothered by this now that I know a quick re-start cures the fault.
    Regards

    Hello again

Thank you for the log files. Unfortunately the first set is not particularly helpful. Please be aware that when you use the first option in the watchdog (as it looks like you did), it only captures the log files for that session. In other words, what I got was something showing you opening MediaPortal... and then closing it a few seconds later. To collect log files after an error has occurred, please use the watchdog's third option.

What both sets of log files do show is that you still haven't configured your TV codecs. Video codec settings are good:

MediaPortal - Audio Renderer

LAV Audio Decoder

LAV Video Decoder

LAV Video Decoder

LAV Video Decoder

LAV Video Decoder

LAV Video Decoder

LAV Audio Decoder

LAV Splitter Source

LAV Splitter

yes
[/collapse]

...as are the Blu-Ray codec settings... but still nothing for TV. Given that situation, I'm not surprised the problem has persisted. I can only guess that this is an oversight and would respectfully advise to go back and double check. :)

    Regards,
    mm

Apologies, I am obviously missing something and I will go through it all again to get the TV codecs correct.
Still a newbie to MediaPortal I am afraid!
    Thank you for your patience.

Well, I went through the 22 pages of the display calibration post and looked through the TV codecs section and I can not find any clue to what may be causing the issue.
Although I have ditched Microsoft Media Center I can see why it is more suited to the general computer user and I have to admit it does do the job without requiring the high level of technical knowledge.
Bottom line is that I have discovered already that a re-start fixes the issue so I will live with the problem and hopefully this will all go away when MP2 is developed to a consumer level and I can get it to run on my setup.
    Thank you for your attention.

Oh no! 22 pages? I'm sorry. I think there's been a misunderstanding. All I was suggesting you do was go back and check the settings in MediaPortal Configuration -> codecs and renderer -> TV codecs tab. That's it. This section here:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...nfiguration/9_Codecs_and_Renderer/1_TV_Codecs

Setting all except the audio renderer as shown in the picture in the link above - ie. LAV video or audio for everything - should be fine. Set the audio renderer to default DirectSound unless you know that is unsuitable for your setup, in which case select the appropriate DirectSound output/device. If you're not sure, select default DirectSound.
