I have installed MP a couple of times and regardless of what I do it finds no codecs on my system at all. The pull-downs in the config program for audio and video codecs are completely blank and the Directshow Filter Control only lists VMR9 and EVR settings.

I have just about everything available installed including Windvd8, Powerdvd7, latest FFDshow, Haali, descaler, Nvidia decoders, gabest, et all.

Everything else from WMP11 to Zoom player works perfectly fine.

I installed MP2 infinity and that DID find all the codecs.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Downloaded and ran filmerit, 0 errors from 128 filters. Running as an administrator.

Any other ideas?
This is real starting to bug me, especially because everything else finds the codecs no problem, including Infinity - isn't that strange?

Yes, that's why struggling to give you a answer.

When you uninstalled MP, did you delete the Mediaportal folder (backup first, just in case :)) usually found at c\program files\team-mediaportal.

    Reboot and then try reinstalling.

Have you ever used a registry cleaner, that's the only thing i can think may do this.

Have asked the rest of the team for ideas, as besides doing a complete restore\reinstall of windows i have run out of answers.

    I have used a registry cleaner....Registry Mechanic 5.2
Do you think that's the problem? If so....how? And what can I do about it.

I'd really rather not reinstall at this stage, it takes too bloody long to get everything sorted again:(

Yep there's your problem, there is a restore function to allow you to put registry back as was.

The problem comes in, is how many times you have used RM to clear registry, so which backup to restore.

If you are talking about MP, just copy the whole Mediaportal folder to your preferred backup location (recommend doing this anyway), when you then reinstalled MP just overwrite folder contents with your backup.
