When i play a DVD with dolby digital on it, it's not dolby digital or dts. Just PCM sound on s/pdif.
I have tried WinDVD codecs and settings for sp/dif, i have tried PowerDVD 8 with sp/dif in mediaportal, but i'm not getting digital sound. With movie files on hard disk it's all fine.
Is it a bug?

I found the problem. But it's strange.
I also have installed Arcsoft Media Theathre. And when i uninstall that, then it's all fine and i have dolby digital with PowerDVD codec.
I really like to use Arcsoft for my blu ray movies and the integration of arcsoft in mediaportal.
    What can i do?

Have the same issue. I have set every codec to PowerDVD 8 under the DVD settings, and s/pdif under "DirectShow... -> PowerDVD", but it keeps changing my settings to "2 speaker". In PowerDVD alone everything works fine, Dolby D and DTS that is. Any solutions ?

I have the same here, with Power DVD it works fine, but not in Mediaportal. I have a m-audio transit usb sound card.

I tried it but MP 1.0 keeps altering the setting in the registry to DWORD:8, and it happens when I start the DVD playing inside MP 1.0, otherwise it is not altered... But thanks anyhow, it helps getting closer to the solution... :) In MP 1.0 RC4 it was OK but in the Final it's broken.

    Solved the problem :)

I've now solved the problem at my setup. Solution was two steps.

    1. "Steal" the file "DirectShowLib.dll" from Mediaportal RC4 and overwrite the one from the Mediaportal 1.0 final version.
    2. Set the audio codec under DVD settings to the one spelled correctly (had two codecs allmost identically spelled besides one letter)
It's the one called "Cyberlink Audio Decoder (PDVD8)" and NOT the one called "Cyberlink Audio Decode (PDVD8)".

And off course select S/PDIF under DirectShow settings.

Please respond if this resolves your problem too.

I have for your convenience attached the particular dll file so you don't have to track down the RC4 installation.

    Best regards to all
