Hi,
I'm back after a few years to MP. A lot of improvements!
I just installed MP1.6 on W7 64, with an ATI HD4550 video card (on a Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2L Mobo) connected via HDMI to an Onkyo receiver capable of DTS-HD MA and DD-True HD.

When I play a ripped BR (in a BDMV folder, not ISO or MKV) I get DTS but not DTS-HD. I can get DTS-HD using the same
movie folder and connection from a Popcorn hour player. Video and audio are smooth btw, including subtitles.

I ticked the passthrough option in the LAV audio filter section, Windows is configured as 7.1 speaker.
Is there any place else I can check or it is hardware related (MB/video card) ?

I was thinking to replace the hardware with a more recent mini-ITX MB and an i5 core with a 4600HD integrated graphics.
Will that hardware be capable enough for BR/DTS-HD ?

Any help, pointer ll be immensely appreciated !!

Thanks,

    Hello Stoca,

It could be a few things, firstly, when the file is playing, if you press info on your remote (or right click with the mouse) you should get up a menu that lets you choose alternative audio tracks if there are any. Is the DTS-HD MA track selected there?

Secondly, if you go into Control Panel and sound options, and select your audio device, you should get to a tab that lists which audio codecs are supported by your soundcard. Is DTS HD MA listed there?

If not, then it may be that your hardware does support it and needs different drivers. Or that your hardware does not support it.

I use an ATI HD6450 connected via HDMI to my Yamaha AV Receiver, and with MediaPortal I have all the HD audio soundtracks working fine (DTS-HD MA, Dolby True HD, PCM 5.1).

ok, so I do not see the HD formats in the supported formats list of the video card.
I guess the issue is due to hardware limitation. thanks lisag and corcy for taking the time to respond.

Are the intel i7/i5 CPU series able to bitstream HD audio ? so far I was unable to find that information.
At this point I can just upgrade the whole system! unless I can find an entry level modern video card that can stream the HD formats.

My HD6450 does a good job, it is fanless and very inexpensive.
