I had mp working for ages but without uk HD pick up, BBCHD itvHD etc.

Tried every fix i came too, but nothing worked, tried updating ATI drivers but although CCC updates the drivers stay at 8.5. The tried vista media center with the tv pack (before it time bombed) still nothing, so came back to MP and now it just crashed when starting, tried uninstalling / reinstalling to help but nothing.

Really want this program working as ideal for everything except HD content!(although i have not got any program working for that) :D

here is a log of the failure.

Please help!

Right now i can't even start mp, as soon as i double click the icon, a window opens telling me there is a problem then the mp crash report window opens.

Unless anyone has any good ideas i think i'm looking at reinstalling windows again!

I think it's because you have UAC turned on, MP tries to write to c:\program files(or data) but the files get redirected to the Virtual Store.

Remove everything from the virtual store, the path should be something like:
    c:\users\<your username>\appdata\local\virtual store\program data\team mediaportal
    and
    c:\users\<your username>\appdata\local\virtual store\program files\team mediaportal

    Thanks man,

But i'm still not having any luck, i have not changed anything within Vista (or i don't think so :D) the user accounts were theere before when mp was working for me, i've just been playing around with codec and different fixes for HD playback.

The IT guy at work tells me i'm wasting my time with an onboard graphic cards and that the most likely cause of HD playback problems. So i'm going to buy a separate one and reinstall vista agian to see if that fixes my problems Hopefully RC3 or even mp2! will be out by then.

    :D

If you try running uninstall, with keep settings option, then reboot and reinstall, does it make any difference.

One of the errors shown is mediaportal.exe x86 not found, did you have this running in compatibility mode for 32 or 64 bit.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, with no change.

When i firsted installed MP over vista, it worked no questions (apart from DVBS HD channels, still need to work on that) :D. So it was something i have done since then, problem being i had no idea what it could be, so figured a fresh install would take less time, (having a htpc plugged into the main house telly makes it diffcult to get time on it, ad breaks, late nights and early mornings!)

Did this yesterday and now all is working as it did. will try DVBS hd again after a new graphic card has been installed.

Thanks for all the help, think this problem can be put down to bad user rather than bad bug

    GA-MA78GM-S2H HD problems

Just an update for anyone suffering lack of DVBS HD channels.

Today i bought an LG ggc-h20l optical drive with powerdvd.

Installed and all fixed, everything works really well.

So all people with this mother board suffering problems, its not the ati drivers (still using the driver and ccc from the motherboard disc. Its having the correct codec installed.

    Roll on RC3 !!!!!!!:D:D:D

:D To all that helped, in this thread and every other i've read through!
