I'd like my Screensaver to start whenever I've been idle for <insert random number of minutes here> witihin MediaPortal. I've disabled all "blank screen when idle" etc I found within Configuration > General, but without luck. The screensaver works just fine whenever MP isn't started.

I have no idea if it's possible at all, but if I missed an option somewhere, I'd be glad if someone pointed me in the right direction! Oh, and the screensaver should ofcourse not kick in when watching a movie/TV.

Cheers.

You run MP in full screen right?

So basically you should disable all the screensavers in windows, and have the "blank screen when idle" setting on for MP. That will make your screen go black when MP is sitting there but isn't playing anything (ie if you just let it sit there at the start menu).

The reason I say "you should disable screensavers in windows" is because if you just leave MP running (even if it is doing something useful, like watching TV) windows can think that there has been no mouse/keyboard input for a while and turn it's screensaver on, which is annoying. You should let MP control it.

Actually, I think MP disables the windows screensaver when in fullscreen mode.
It never used to, and that was VERY annoying.

I think ideally, there should be an option to either blank the screen or let Windows screensaver kick in if preferred, but never over running video of course. So basically, wherever MP would normally blank the screen, it should instead let the windows screensaver take effect (based on timeout configured in windows).

This has been spoken about in the past and I think there is even a plugin somewhere that allows for it, but I don't think it is planned at this stage. Either not enough support for it or the devs just have too much on at the moment.

In any event, jocke, don't worry, you aren't doing anything wrong :)

Really MP does that now does it?

I am still on 2.3.0, so I may be behind on this change.
Like you said, it never used to, which was terribly painful.

    Well, that answers alot....

    To clarify;
    a) Yes, I'm using fullscreen
    b) Ofcourse the screensaver should not kick in when watching movies/TV
    c) No, I don't want a black "screensaver" - I know the option is there
    d) I just wanted to have my ordinary Windows-screensaver kick in instead of the blank/black screen
    e) So unless there is a plugin that allows for Windows-screensaver to work, there is no hope
    f) .... unless there is a plugin out there allowing pictures to be shown fullscreen when MP is idle... so, like a screensaver-plugin within MP to show pictures... that's all I want...

    Hi Jocke,

Well according to Marcus, what you are trying to do will work - if MP is idle, it will let windows screensaver kick in, if you turn on the right settings.

Sorry, I didn't make myself very clear.

At the moment the only option is the blanking option.

I meant ideally there *should* be an extra option for the windows screensaver.
I'm sure there was a plugin in the past, but it would probably not work on newer versions even if you found it.

By the way, did we ever fix the problem with screensavers kicking in during playback in fullscreen? Drives me nuts!

Hi, I am also wondering if this has been fixed / option added in MP. The Windows Screensaver keeps kicking in while I am watching movies in MP (Fullscreen)

This is very very frustrating having to move the mouse every 30 mins.

    Thanks.
