    Hi again Michael

If I was local I'd offer to drop by and take a look. It seems rather strange to me that DVBDream would not have the same problem if this is a signal issue (and assuming that you're still using my patch). I *think* I put logging into the patch that I gave you just in case there were any further problems. Are you able to post logs if the problem is readily reproducible?

In any case I'm very sorry that the card is not working out for you. As you know I have 2 7010ix cards, and I use both the satellite and terrestrial tuners on both. I genuinely don't have these problems at all.

I'm actually not sure if DVBDream has the same issue.

With your patch, most channels seem to work fine in Mediaportal, there's just a few that don't. I've been meaning to make a list, but thought I'd try reinstalling Windows first. They're all pay channels, whereas I only tried FTA channels in DVBDream. Once I make the list I'll try those channels in DVB Dream. As mentioned, sometimes the signal strength and quality are reported as 0% in DVB Dream, even when it works.

I get the feeling I may have two separate problems.

Once I have the list I'll also try manually mapping those channels to the HVR-3000 only (and setting it as the 3rd preferred decoder), and see if that's a stable configuration. Even if it is, it's far from an ideal solution.

I think I may know what the problem is. You may have been right about poor cable quality.

As mentioned before, I don't recall having this issue when first setting the HTPC up. It developed later, after moving the HTPC from my bedroom to the lounge.

At the time, our satellite dish fed a 3-way splitter, with two outputs going to my bedroom and one to the lounge. The two cables to my bedroom are relatively recent (we installed them 1-2 years ago) whereas the cable to the lounge was there when we bought the house. Maybe that cable just needs to be replaced.

I still think part of the problem's with the 7010iX though as the HVR-3000, MySky HDi and some old DVB-S STB's I had work fine on that cable.

    Hopefully the solution's that simple.

    Hi again Michael

As I've said, the 7010ix is more fussy - it requires stronger/better quality signal than any other tuner/STB I've ever owned... and I've owned quite a few now. Part of that may be due to the fact that there are 4/6 tuners packed into such a small space. Do keep me in the loop...

    Hi.

Sorry for taking so long to respond. Our home wiring is a bit of a mess, and I kept putting this off.

I've tried bypassing some of the existing cable, and just connecting a cable outside the house. The problems seem to be occurring less often (although that may just be wishful thinking), but they still occur.

It's possible that replacing the LNB or some of the other wiring could help, but at this stage I think I'll just replace the tuner. The HVR-3000 works flawlessly, and I think this might be a more reliable solution. Think I might buy a DVB-S2 tuner, so I can receive TV1/2/3 in HD as well.

Thanks for all your help, it's very much appreciated.
