MediaPortal Version: 0.2.3.0
Windows Version: Vista
CPU Type: AMD AM2
Motherboard: Asus M2A-VM HDMI
Sound Card: Realtek
Sound Card Driver: Realtek 6.03
Hi,
Recently something very odd has been happening with MP: it produces no sound. There are no clicks when you press enter or use the arrow keys. The videos don't have any sound. The music files don't play any sound. This problem is exclusive to MP since they play fine in Windows Media Player. Windows has startup sounds and all other sound works fine.
So far I've tried:
- Uninstalling/Reinstalling MP together with removing all user settings and running everything from defaults.
- Installing new codecs, currently using K-Lite. However I don't think the problem lies here since it all plays fine in windows.
One peculiar thing I have noticed, however, is that the mixer icon in Vista does not have a slider for Media Portal (as it usually does for applications); it only displays the "Speakers" and "Windows Sounds" sliders.
This really happened out of the blue I wasnt busy installing new plugins or even other software on the computer. It's my mother's HTCP and she literally uses it only for mp3/video playback.
I'll appreciate any help, thanks
LOL....
I fixed it
Obviously checking if any of the windows mixer channels are on mute was my first solution, however, it never occured to me that Media Portal has its own incorporated Mute shortcut 'm'.
Just made this post incase someone else also ran into this comical problem
