No sound playing dvd (1 Viewer)

I have no sound playing dvd from dvd disk whereas i have sound when i play cd from the same device. What could be the problem ?

    Check you audio plugin to see if you are decoding your audio to SPDIF, it sounds like you CD's are playing through your analogue outputs and your dvd's are playing through SPDIF.

    But thats just an asumption.

    If thats not the case then you can always try a different dvd audio codec to see if that makes a difference. I'm sure a more experience MP user could give some more options to try.

    I'm not sure to well understand what you say but when i play the dvd through a dvd player software liket the one included with nero 7 i have no problem with dvd sound.

    How are your speakers connected to your sound card? via a single digital cable(spdif), or by stereo headphone jacks? sounds like it's probably the latter.

    Anyways, open the MP configuration utility(can press f2 within media portal), and go to DVD, and then Codecs, this is where you can select which audio codec to use when using dvd playback.

    Also further down the list there is a filters section, expand that and select the Dscaler audio decoder, and tell me what the settings are.

    But i'd try changing the audio decoder first, see what that does and then come back ok?
