Ok, Now i think we're getting somewhere. After reloading the zap2it line up, I went into the TELEVISION---->TV CHANNELS and saw my tv line up in the window. Next i clcik on the TV cards tabe, Highlighted all of the channels from the "available TV channels" and moved them over the "ASSIGNED TV channels". I then clicked "OK" and saved. I fired up MP and went the the TV guide and clicked on a channel and i gave me a black screen and after about 5sec it gave me a "No Signal Decected" error.
Im using the InterVideo Vi9deo Decoders for my codecs.
What am i missing now?
thanks agian

OK, i spoke too soon. I restated MP and now i have the no signal detected error. :(

Ok, i noticed this in my error.log
:
10/22/2006 7:37:30 PM mpeg2:FAILED to render mpeg2demux audio out:0x80040256
10/22/2006 7:38:20 PM mpeg2:FAILED to render mpeg2demux video out:0x80040204

Now this error doesn't explain the no signal detected error, at least i think.

You will have to edit all your channels to use the external setop box:
start the "mediaportal setup" program then Television --> TV channels --> TV channels tab --> select a channel --> edit --> external tab --> type:received by external settop box --> input via: SVHS --> channel number on settopbox: speaks for itself.
On the main Televison screen of the mediaportal setup program you might have to deselect the checkbox: select channel by index (non us)

Hesse made a program to help make the channel editting quiker:

https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showthread.php?t=11178

So you don't have to assign each external connection by hand.

Hi,

Just jumping here, read through the thread but may have missed something.

If ALL your channels are coming through the STB to MP via svideo there
is no need/use in auto-tuning since the card is not actually tuning any
channels but just bringing in the svideo signal.

Since you said coax and your channels go over 99 I am assuming you have a
digital cable lineup, and you are using the zap2it plugin.
Set the Zap2It plugin to automatically add your channels as external SVHS,
it will add all your channels (with naming) and set them to svhs for you.
So you may want to clear all your existing channels and try that.

On a side note.
If I understand your setup correctly I think you will only be able
to watch/record one channel at a time even though you have two
tuners on the PVR-500 because the STB is doing the tuning and
passing that single channel to the card.
My setup is similar except I have a PVR-150 in additiona to the PVR-500.
I have coax run to all three for channels up to 99 and then have
the STB connected to the PVR-150 (via svideo) to record any
channel 100+ via the STB.

HTH,
patrick

Thanks, Patrick.

Just so I'm clear. Are you able to watch something on one channel and record something on another with that setup? So basically the Dual tuner is only good if you run your coax directly to your 500 PVR card (analog)?

Im trying to understand your setup. Are you saying that you have your COAX going directly to your 500 and 150 card and another running to your STB?

I have attached a hypothetical setup. I believe this would work. This should enable me to record one show while i watch the other, correct?

you don't need a pvr150 for that setup, you can feed the coax to your pvr500 and as the pvr500 has an internal splitter you can record/watch:

analog coax tv + analog coax tv
analog coax tv + setop box tv

Wortelsoft,
But as Patrick mentioned above:
On a side note.

to watch/record one channel at a time even though you have two
tuners on the PVR-500 because the STB is doing the tuning and
passing that single channel to the card.

I want to make sure i can record one thing while i watch another. But now, according to Patrick, it my not be possible with a STB
