Hey Everyone, I'm new to MP and this whole HTPC game and I've been having some problems configuring my TV Wonder HD 650 USB made by VisionTek. I want to be able to watch and record on the same computer. The TV Server found my card right away, I scanned for channels and I'm able to see a preview of the channels, but when I open MP and go to My Tv all I see is a black screen on both the small preview screen and when I open in full screen. And when I get to fullscreen I cant seem to get out of it, I have to end the process from the task manager. The TV guide shows the channels, all green and with a check box but still nothing. I'm not sure if I have to change any other settings on MP or the TV server. Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

Not a whole lot to go on but read here where I've been successful on mine under Win-7. I also was able to get the ATSC section working well under Win XP and MP 1.0.2 but I don't think I got the analog side working well. Althought I may not be remembering that quite right... I do recall being happy with the ATi 650 Combo USB in that I would have an ability to capture old VHS from S-Video and composite inputs, though...

There have been others finding success with version 9.3 (I think it was) of the driver. But let me point you in the right direction. After you have a driver loaded and want to test the tuner, be sure it's listed in the TV-Server, up top where the tuners show up. There are separate antenna jacks for analog or digital.... after rereading your post it sound slike you KNOW the basics, mentioned the Pre-View box (assuming you mean in the TV Channels part under TV-Server) -- OH -- ARE YOU RUNNING MP 1.0.2 or the latest MP 1.1.0 RC3??? This may be important as you should be using a new one as the old one is not Server/Client based...

I'll stop here because your issue could be in the handshake of the server/client or the in-built tv service of 1.0.2

Finally, tell more about your EPG - what do you mean your TV channels are all green with a check box? Maybe a screen shot would help.

Please try to use 1.1.0 RC3 and if that doesn't work post a bugreport in the RC3 section.

Hey guys thanks for the quick reply. Well i installed 1.1.0 RC3 and installed the card again as a hybrid, scanned for channels and ran MP without changing any of the settings and it seemed to play on MyTV but the image seemed choppy, so I went back to MPConfiguration and changed the video and tv decoders from Gabest to ATI decoder, but when I went back to watch TV it gave me an error saying that no Video or audio were detected. I went back and reset the decoder to Gabest but now it wont play anything. And it gives me the same error in the preview on TV server. Any ideas on this?

First off do not configure the 650 as a hybrid. Don't confuse tuner playback with a codec. How are other files playing? Update your My System so we know. Want are you tuning... ATSC digital or some cable input for NTSC analog?

riksmith - Thanks for letting me know how to post all this, I was wondering bout it.

    Andrew H -

Hey man well I tried to install the 9.7 driver and 10.4 driver on MP 1.1.0 RC3 and they both do the same thing. It will show up on the top like you said where the tuners showed up on TVServer, this time I didnt set it as a hybrid, I scanned for channels and I was able to preview channels too. When I would open MP it would show the first channel I would choose, but when I changed the channel it would give me an error no video/audio detected and I could not see any more channels after that.

Right now I just installed the 9.3 driver like you also sugested and I think it was worse because I could not even preview the channels and of course it would not show anything either when I would open MP. I did notice that everytime I would change to different drivers, when I would go to my device manager on windows and I checked the driver version they all said 6.14.10.364. That's not right is it?

Well here's the log with MP 1.1.0 RC3 and driver version 9.3
I will try to upload with the other drivers tomorrow morning.

I'd noticed on my ATi 650 Combo USB that there were times I had a difficult time getting it recognized, or should I say RE-recognized by the OS once MP would send it funny inquiries - or so that's how I think about it... whether it was MP getting its flags/settings askew, or something in the USB tuner, I found I would need to cycle (external) power and disconnect the USB before the OS was good. And, if the OS wasn't recognizing it, neither could TV-Server! So... go slow and try to assure the tuner is checking into the Device Manager as it should.

If you're only trying to get analog then disable the ATSC tuner in TV-Server. Also, disable all radio tuners and the IPTV (???) that shows up in the default MP 1.1.0.0 RC3. These components just clog up the logs.

In summary, verify the tuner is accessible in the TV-Server -- OH, occasionally you should click the OK button and close/re-enter TV-Server a couple o' times before a tuner is recognized! It also wouldn't hurt to reboot your system before you press on... You could also use Manual Control to STOP Services, wait 30 seconds, START Services before trying to scan channels! You're running your cable provider's coax to the analog input jack, right? And, you don't have any other applications trying to attach themselves to your tuner, right? Do these things and post your logs...

The no video/audio detected sounds like either you're trying to tune a tuner w/o any antenna/cable connected, or there's something out of sync which is why I mention cycling power on the external box to be sure it's initialized.
