Hi,

has anyone else experienced this where the direction keys don't work on the MP menu? IT works fine in other menus like my tv etc! Any ideas?

Thanks

edit not just mce remote. Tried plugging keyboard in and it still doesn't go up or down on main menu! Just sits on 'My Videos'. Does go sideways so can use topbar etc. Oh well think it may be a corrupted xml maybe time for a fresh install anyway.

Thanks

Is there any other options other than re-installing?

I'm experiencing a similar problem...

The directional arrows *used* to work.. as did the 'OK' button in the middle.

But I noticed today that they're not working anymore..
(XP Pro SP2+, MP 0.2.2.9993, MCE (RC6) remote)

To be more specific.. Every button seems to work perfectly except the directional arrow buttons (up/down/left/right) and the 'ok' button. Very strange! It did work previously.

Looking at the logs, it never shows that it registered anything for those buttons pressed. Mind you, when configuring the MCE mappings, there *aren't* any options for the directional arrow or 'ok' buttons there!

Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.

Edit: I put extended logging on.. and apparently it does see it but it's not mapped..

Am I blind, or is there no 'Down' option in the MCE Remote Mappings section??

If you are in a open folder within windows environment, does the arrow keys work then, if not then uninstall ehome receiver in device manager and unplug, reboot and plug receiver back in.
Also low battery can stop keys working correctly, wait 15 minutes before inserting new batteries, there was a capacitor discharge problem with some mce remotes.

If it is only mediaportal that has the problem, see that you have the default settings, if in the c\program files\team-mediaportal\inputdevice mappings folder, you have default and custom folders, are there any entry's in custom folder, may be worthwhile deleting anything in there and then resetting remote defaults.

Here's my working mce xml, just in case yours is corrupt, delete the one in the default folder first.

I don't understand this question.. Do you mean *outside* of the MP app? Because outside of the app, the only button that seem to work are the Green Start button, and maybe the PC Power Button..

Inside the MP app, it doesn't seem to respond at all..

Also low battery can stop keys working correctly, wait 15 minutes before inserting new batteries, there was a capacitor discharge problem with some mce remotes.

I don't think this is the case either as the logs indicate it *sees* up/down/left/right/ok being pressed, but they're not mapped.

I did what you suggested.. I removed (well, renamed) the default MCE mappings and then replaced mine with the one you supplied. Same problem...

    See logs...

    Any ideas??

    Update:
Actually.. It looks like deleting the eHome driver, rebooting, and re-plugging in the USB receiver did wonders.

Not sure why, but it started working..!

    Many thanks man!

Though the logs still show 'not mapped', at least its responding..

    :D

The only slight oddity now, is that when I launch MP with the start button (ala mptray), I have to hit *some* button first before up/down/left/right/ok will work.. 'Some button' can be channel up/down (which aren't mapped for use from the main screen) or vol up/down or anything...

Anyone know why the extra button hit is necessary?

    Will

All the remote basic button functions work within windows, same as keyboard, so if in a window with various files inside, you can scroll up\down, left\right, select etc.

Sounds like MP is not in focus, first press gives focus and then keys work, mapping default is in the ehome driver.

Can you confirm it a focus issue, ie mouseclick MP screen, do keys then work straight away.

Well, it starts up in full-screen.. so I don't see how it could *not* be in focus.. :) (unless I missed something?)

This happens to quite a few people every so often, never found a definite answer to this in any settings, that's why MPFocus was created, or try uninstalling MP reboot and then reinstall, and of course you have backed up the Mediaportal folder just in case any setting get deleted (should not delete settings).
