No video controls during movie playback (1 Viewer)

This used to work fine, but I has having some problems with 2.2.0 hanging, so I reinstalled it and now when I move my mouse to the bottom of the screen, I don't get any video controls to allow pausing/playing movies nor the time transport bar. Any thoughts on why it would have dissapeared?

p.s. still can't get mouse cursor to disappear, it used to in the 1.x versions of MP, but mysteriously stopped working sometime after 2.x was released.

As an additional bit of info, the overlay does show up if I hit the "Y" key on the keyboard, but it used to show up if I moved the mouse to the bottom of the screen. Is there some setting I'm missing, or did the behavior change in newer versions of MP???

FYI - Did this, but it didn't help. Still no OSD when moving mouse to bottom of screen, and still doesn't hide mouse when idle.
