Dear community,

I used mediaportal 1.12.0 for several weeks with Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 8.1 without problems. Client and TV-Server are installed on the same machine.

Yesterday I upgraded via Windows Update to Windows 10 th2. There were no errors during the installation process. After the upgrade the pc booted without problems and also windows works fine.

But if I start Mediaportal and try to watch TV (tvb-t) or any other video format the following message appears:

German error message:
Abspielen nicht möglich: "Filename"
Video codec: MPEG VIDEO VERSION 2

Not able to play: "Filename"
Video codec: MPEG VIDEO VERSION 2

For other video formats there appears the codec name instead of "MPEG VIDEO VERSION 2".

The log file I had recored with watchdog shows up the following error:

It seem something goes wrong while the loading of the video codec.

I tried to remove and reinstall Mediaportal with no effect. Also after a complete reinstallation of Windows with Windows 10 th2 and Mediaportal 1.12.0 the problem still persists.

Does anyone knows a solution for this strange problem?

Thanks in advanced,
Sebastian

    Hello Sebastian

    Here is the problem:
    [2015-11-14 11:47:50,625] [Log ] [MPMain ] [INFO ] - VMR9: added EVR Renderer to graph
    [2015-11-14 11:47:50,634] [Error ] [MPMain ] [ERROR] - VMR9: Renderer not installed / cannot be used!

It seems that the "enhanced video renderer" which is normally used by MediaPortal on Windows Vista and newer is not present on your system. So, MediaPortal is unable to play videos.

We will have to wait and see if Microsoft have made some kind of change in TH2, or whether the problem is only with your system...

    Hello mm1352000,

    thanks for your reply.

I forgot to mention that my Windows Version is correctly "Windows 10 N". This is the version of Windows 10 for europe without media player capabilities. For Mediaportal I must install the "Media Pack" from Microsoft. But after upgrading to Windows 10 TH2 the error appears.
To fix the problem under Windows 10 N TH2 with installed Media Pack, I switched from VMR9 to Enhanced Video Renderer (EVR). Now all my videos are running correctly.

I also tested an installation with Windows 10 pro (TH2). With this version I have no problems.

    Kind regards,
    Sebastian

I see a similar issue here since the update.
Playing of videos is not possible anymore. Live TV and recordings are working fine
    Code:
[2015-11-20 20:03:22,077] [Error ] [MPMain ] [ERROR] - VideoPlayer9: Exception while creating DShow graph Der Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt. bei DShowNET.Helper.DirectShowUtil.FindPin(IBaseFilter filter, PinDirection dir, String strPinName)
       bei MediaPortal.Player.VideoPlayerVMR9.UpdateFilters(String selection)
       bei MediaPortal.Player.VideoPlayerVMR9.GetInterfaces()

    Any ideas?

Sorry, I can't help with that log file. I need to look at your configuration file, and I also need the log level to be debug rather than information. It's easy if you use the Watchdog with option 1 or 2. ;)

    Here we are ...
I have tested with tree different movies. All of them are playing fine with another player on this client.

Could it be that there is a problemn with the dynamic refresh changing?

    I don't think so.
It seems like the logged in user doesn't have proper access to the share where the videos are kept. You can see that the gathered MediaInfo is very bare:

Please can you check that access is configured correctly (including share login settings, firewall settings etc.), and maybe try to see if the same file will play if you copy it to a folder on the local PC.

You are right. I have tested and configured the access with \\<IP> and in the myvideo database I had \\<hostname>. I have corrected this. No problem with Videos anymore.
