noob question on MCE remotes (1 Viewer)

Noob to both MP and remote:

Looking to control MP via a remote.

My HTPC has WIN XP, but MCE is NOT installed... just plain Win XP Pro. That is the reason why I went with MP, MCE is not required

My question: Can I use any of the MCE remotes while in MediaPortal? If so, how do make it work with MP?

plug the MCE ir receiver in, select Use MCE remote/keyboard in mp configuration, go use your remote.

sayin: the MCe rmeote is supported out of the box in MP plus using the MCe remote with XP pro only is no problem, the drivers are included anyways (at least in SP2). there are also drivers in the download resp. if tere would be any problems & there is the MCe replacement driver to be found in the forums too.

and how I put the Start key on the remote starting MediaPortal when I'm in Windows XP desktop?

you can install ir suite, in the suite thers a program called ir tray wich allows you to select shutdown and start mp buttons on your remote.
